Short Notice - Mahjong Fever

Friday, February 29, 2008

Have you ever heard about the online Mahjong games at Viwawa.com? I knew this site through the famous blogger from Singapore, Xiaxue. Since I got not much to do after exam, right time to give it a try!

Therefore, I signed up and created my own wawa.

(Sorry, not enough money to make her look nicer yet)

Guess what, I have so much fun! Kind of addicted with it already. The Mahjong game is simple and 100% player friendly। You can pick up the game in a second even if you never play Mahjong before, like me. Plus, you play it live with real people, not versus computer! How can you miss this?

Beverlysecret is my user name as usual.
Hope to see you around!
Enjoy~~

A gift to soul

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

As soon as I finished my GMAT exam, I ran into Powell bookstore . A fiction novel, is what I needed to console my soul. I love to read, strictly for reading materials that raise my interest. After choosing and filtering for a couple minutes, I grabbed a book and walked out of the bookstore (of course, I paid).

cards
The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhrust, is completely overwhelming and poignant. I spent 2 days to read through this 261 pages long novel (that's why I wasn't updated my blog).

Linguistics professor Paul Iverson's life turned upside down when the body of his young wife, Lexy, is found beneath their backyard apple tree. Did she fall or did she jump? Only Lorelei, family dog and sole witness to the tragedy, knows for sure. And, she'd not talking. Yet.

cards
A short and brief summary surrounded by mysteries and wonders of love.

I wiped away my tears when I reached the last 3 chapters. Strongly felt the grief of losing someone vital in life. Sometimes, understanding the truth is the cruelest. Everything is just beautifully crushing and inspiring in this book.

If you feel lost and miserable, like what I did few weeks ago. Buy yourself a nice book. It will heal your soul and color your spirit, I promised.

Take care, buddies.

Juicy Oscar

cards

As you aware, the 80th Academy Awards was over and the results are out. I stayed at home witnessing this glorious moment yesterday. I'm sure my neighbor hear me shout out loud when the presenter announcing the best supporting actor.

cards
Give it up to Javier Bardem everybody.

cards
Despite his remarkable hair style in No Country For Old Man, he is my favorite actor.

Adding some juicy info about this fabulous man, he is currently dating with Penelope Cruz (Tom Cruise ex or ex ex lover).
cards

However, they declared they are just FRIEND.

cards
Okay, we trust you.

AHHHHHHHH~~
Here I shout again!
For the best picture of the year, No Country For Old Man.

cards
This movie deserves it! Bravo~~

Buddies, this movie should sound familiar to you if you stick around Beverly's Secret all these while. I post it on January, Hot Picks.

AHHHHHHHH~~
Don't dare to miss my post again!!!
(my throat hurt very badly honestly)

Tagging me

Sunday, February 24, 2008

I have been tagged?
Oh my goodness, Akira...

Thank god I did a shooting for Maxim last month. This is a great chance to show you guys what I've got.

cards
Not bad right? The photographer turned me into someone else, totally.

Hahaha...
Stop cursing me, Arvil's fans.
It's just a joke (although nothing funny about), no hard feeling. Above is just one of my recent own magazines. Akira, you assign me a tough task! I don't have any pictures that meet magazine cover quality yet.

Hmm...
Hmm...hmm...

Does it count?
(Beverly, we hardly see your face!!!)

Thanks for tagging, I have so much fun. And, million thanks to the supporting actor and actress above. Also, last but not least, thanks to the brilliant photographer of this photo.

Alright, want to stick with TV for Oscar Red Carpet later. Chao~~

**Opps, forgive me**
I should pass the cheers by tagging others.
Well, in the name of God, YOU ARE TAGGED!

Walmart Tour

It's Grocery Day! Time to stock up foods and house hold stuffs.

cards
Don't get me wrong, I'm not just buying expensive things. In fact, I spot for great deal with low price all the time. So, Walmart is my target this time.

cards
Reading magazine along 30 minutes drive. It's my first time to Walmart, how exciting!

BUT... (=.=lll)
What I see is Giant's "ancestor"...

cards
If you always picture Walmart as a high scale supermarket, I'm here to prove you wrong. Walmart, it's just like Giant in Malaysia, but bigger (they sell everything apparently) and better (exchange and return policy).

cards
We want to fill up the trolley for a better photos, but we already have 32 items.

However, I couldn't show you everything I've bought, really don't want anyone to mistake me as a full time housewife yet. Therefore, I've chosen some proper products to suit Beverly's Secret image.

cards
This is soooooo cheap! $7.50, I can't believe it!
Nice shade for Summer.

cards
Hair care (from left to right)
Loreal Vive Pro conditioner (new!!), volumizing comb, Conair hair brush

cards
For eyes (from left to right)

Stop envying, view my receipt first.

cards
Yup, $126++ for semi-monthly house hold products, sometimes even more :'(

Dear readers, it's not really fun to stay in US sometimes.

Chap Goh May

Wednesday, February 20, 2008

"Huh? Chap Goh May?"
"Tomorrow? So fast?"
"I thought still have few more days to go"
Part of my conversation with my younger sister yesterday through phone call.

Happy Chap Goh Mei
(snap out your holiday mood immediately)

That means CNY 2008 has come to an end! Ohhh, gosh! I didn't celebrate it to the fullest though. We did hang out with friends during CNY at Portland Chinese Garden, but still, it's different, I miss my family and friends!

The garden is awesome. Views are great, but I was home sick. My smiles seem fake in those pictures. Sigh...

liondance+me
This one looks real, I mean my smiley face because I love lion dance.

liondance2
liondance1
Yeah~~ Nice one! But still, you know, the feeling of staying abroad without familiar faces. For me, CNY is about reunion and gathering. Hmmm, it's ok, at least I try something new and I figured out my CNY plans next year.

Thanks for those who cares about my existence still.
cards
I'm so thankful for all the CNY and birthday greeting cards. It warms up my days.

Go skinny

Monday, February 18, 2008

closeup
Girls are absolutely obsess about weight. So do I! That's why, Beverly goes skinny this time!

Due to festive February, I eat uncontrollably. Sigh...You are the witness of all my indulgences. Not only that, the easy access of fast food restaurants nearby my neighborhood contribute 50% of my weight gain. KFC, McD, Tacobell, Arby's, Wendy's, Subway, Burgerville and so on, you name it, they have it. ARGH!! Really have to discipline myself for healthy eating habit.

Consequently, I throw myself into diet plan AGAIN! But this time, I have to eat healthy instead of cut down meals.

seaweed
Seaweed + Orange juice = Brunch (breakfast + lunch)

salad
Beverly's Style rainbow salad = Dinner

Are you joking? How do I survive with seaweed and vegetables? I do consume meat, fruits and cereal during the whole slimming program. If you are interested, visit me again, I'll update with new "recipe". I know, you are about to tell me exercise is important too. Hmm, do you consider walking is another form of exercise? I do but the last time I walked was at Pioneer Square, a shopping mall. Hehe~~

garden
I'm serious, walking in the park for real!

Started my plan few days ago. Hope I can loss some weight for my new bikini on Summer. Usually, my hubby is the one who oppose my diet plan, but this time he gives me full support. Obviously, he can't stand for my fats anymore!! So cruel to be true...

I sacrifice french fries, fillet-o-fish, fried chicken, cheesecake, chocolates, onion ring, buffalo wing, pasta, pizza, potato chips and uncountable delicious foods for tone body (T.T).

But every time I see the green logo with the wording Starbucks Coffee, DAMN!!!

starbuck1
Hahaha~~ Just a cup of tall skinny latte, don't be so calculative! Ermm, I heard coffee helps to loss weight, isn't it?

starbuck
ARGH...whatever, I deserved a break!

P/S: Do not simply follow my eating habit, it might affect your health. Although I do not consult physicians for a proper eating program, I know my body better than anyone does.

Shakespeare in me

Saturday, February 16, 2008

Well...Well...Well...
Push you into the well...

It's time for me to be artistic and literate. Shakespeare is my super idol. A great man ever who translated love into words and spread it to the whole world over all the decade.

My hubby told me he won a lucky draw in his company! And the prize are 2 tickets for Shakespeare Twelfth Night, at Portland Center Stage Gerding Theater. How cool, I'm on for sure!

theater1
The theater was pretty crowded. But most of the audiences were elderlies.

poster1
Whatever, I'm still in.

I read Twelfth Night synopsis before attended to the play. The storyline is simply breathtaking. The complexity created beautiful understandings and humors. Show you some of the plots.

Interested? Wanna know more about Twelfth Night? Unfortunately, you have to check it out by yourself. Hehehe...Lazy to elaborate everything, I'm not good in story telling anyway.

theater2
Mini Bar beside the main entrance. Order your drinks!

theater3
I look completely exhausted after the 2 and half hours play. Everything's well done. Do not compare the show with Broadway and other huge performance.

FEEL BORED? Ohh, com'on!
There's always something interesting here.
What about this now?

me
Childish? Damn, that's my Shakespeare's side sincerely.
We are done, nothing more for you!!

Hahaha...
Just kidding...
I always save the best for last.
pixpastri
My hubby brought me to Pix Patisseries for desserts. They carry a wide range of European desserts and chocolates. Let's see what he gets.

Just our Valentine's

Thursday, February 14, 2008

A lot of people asking about my Valentine's Day celebration after knowing I had a big bash on my birthday. Surprisingly, ain't no celebration this time! Dude, this post might disappointed you.

"Darling, I just want a peace of mind when everyone going crazy on Valentine's Day celebration." I lied to him. In fact, I planned things out behind his back.

card
Get him a card.

wwatch
Get him a watch too (I'm broke T.T).

Not only these. Since he likes to eat at home, I've decided to make a secret dinner for him. My plan might sound cheesy to you, but I really want to give him something that money can't buy.

For me, cooking sucks! However, thanks to Cher's advise, I'm able to throw out a nice course, Chinese Chicken Rice. Although chicken rice is normal dishes in M'sia, you won't be able to taste it in Portland, I assure you! Cher tutors me with her special recipe all the way from Canada. I hope I make you proud. kekeke...

cooking
Making soup ABC and chicken. I did grocery all by myself, so heavy!! And, I walked 8 blocks for the ingredients.

vege
Boiled vegetable with oyster sauce. I add oyster sauce to everything actually, sorry.

rice
Main course and soup!! Not bad right?

He was shocked when he found out I make it so delightful and delicious. Guess what, he finished everything on the table. Soooooo glad he loves it.

present
This is what I get in return. OMG~~ piggy card again! Am I look like piggy in your eyes, darling?

choco
ohh ya... And, a box of chocolate too! The sweetest one on earth! Each of them tastes uniquely yummy and beautiful~~

Errmm, did I told you I light up the house with candles? I did, we had home made "candle light dinner"!! It's simply romantic and peaceful~~

iloveu
Yes, I do.
Specially dedicated for you in full moon.
