I'm on my way home. Yup, from U.S. to Malaysia.
Don't be jealous...
Nothing to be excited...
Seriously, I wish I don't have to go home. Not because I don't miss my families or friends, or Malaysia, I just can't afford to lose her...
forever...
I'll miss you, grandma...
p/s: I'll stop blogging, at least for couple weeks... though I promised I won't stop blogging no matter how... Sometimes when you think you have the world, the world just won't be the same like before...
Happy Birthday, Chean

Me
Chean
Darling, I've booked a window seat table at Chart House (an expensive restaurant in town) on Sat (which means last Sat). Are you exciting about it?
You know what, I don't really want to celebrate this year.
Why? Why not? It'll be fun!
A relaxing evening with homemade dinner sounds fun too, we don't really need to go to Chart House. Most of all, my ultimate birthday wish is to Save Money.
Com'on, it's your birthday! Can you just loosen up a little and treat yourself better?
It's my birthday, that's why I want to make the call. Can I just have my birthday celebration done in the way I desired?
Well, you can imagine how bad it goes for the rest of our conversation.
Eventually, Chean won. No Chart House, no over-the-top-celebration, no relaxing homemade dinner either. It's his birthday after all.
I got really pissed off at some points he doesn't want to celebrate his birthday with me. It still piss me off now, seriously.
Don't tell me you don't really care about your birthday too, even if you don't care about it as much as I do, you still wish to celebrate your day with someone special, you still wish someone will remember your special day! So, stop bullshitting.
Anyway, I get pass it (though it's hard) and secretly plan his birthday celebration with his colleagues.
Yup, we are going to do it in your office, you can't say NO. Hahaha...

I baked these blueberries cupcakes for him.

It takes me about 5 hours, from packaging, frosting to cupcakes. Phewww...

They turn out professionally great in terms of taste and presentation :)

I also bought a birthday cake at bakery store, just in case my cupcakes screw up :p
Here we go!!! I brought everything to his office to surprise him. More than 20 of his colleagues shout out his name "Chean-Wei Law" loud before the compulsory birthday song. Chean was overwhelmed a little and surprisingly shocked when he sees me and Miyaki!

Enjoying the cakes. What a nice tea break :p

His buddies got him a very thoughtful gift. "Time for a change" written on the box. We wonder what's inside.

It's a purple sweater from American Apparel. Chean, you shouldn't wear the same purple sweater all the time. Hahaha...
That's what Chean's birthday all about. Sorry for the lack of photos people, I was busy taking care of Miyaki. Thanks to everyone, especially Mark Jacobs, who makes his birthday memorable and unforgettable.
If you can't make it on Chean's birthday, yet you want to deliver your very best wishes to him, now it's your turn!
I'm collecting 100 birthday wishes for him. Help me to realize this mission, please ;)
A big thank you and a big kiss from me in advance... Muakssss...

If you expect to see my shopping goods in NY, this post is going to disappointed you. You should know one if the Beverly's Secret rules, save the best for last :p
This is not our first time being in NY.
Chean used to live in NY and I visited him twice in NY for couple months. However, this NY trip means so much for both of us, it's like a homecoming thingie with nostalgia.

Chean and his colleague, Ken, on yellow cab.

A touch screen mini TV in the cab. I don't know about this at all! Damn out-dated!!!

Soho Grand Hotel, of course located at Soho, Manhattan. This is where we sleep, shout, dance, rest and act crazy~~ Woo hoo~~

Check in first~~ Tatum, chean's colleague as well, is on the right.

Warm hand towels upon check in reminds me of MAS airline.
Ready to see the room?

Oppss... Don't forget the room keys.

Yup, it's a small room. Com'on, it's New York people.

At least we got a Queen size bed ;)

Flat screen TV, whatever... Who will stay in the room and watch TV in NY?

The iPod stereo beside our bed is very useful though. Love it~~

Kind of like the washroom wallpaper...
Then, we went out for a short walk at Time Square! TIME SQUARE!!!

Chean posing at the subway station.

You think NY subway is super high-tech, clean and comfortable? You are damn wrong!!! It is the dirtiest one ever (yup, dirtier than KTM), but convenient. So, suck it up.

Hola~~ Time Square!

New York never sleeps. Best place for night owls like me!
So, what about calling the room service for a late night craving?

Mouthwatering?
Hold your saliva till you see this...

Don't you know NY cheese cake is super popular?

Ham Sandwich and Mini Cheese Cake cost us a total of US$ 60++, including taxes and tips.

I love dining in bed, especially when you have someone to clean the sheets for you. Weeeeeee :p
I shall update more, but too many things happen at once recently. Going to visit a winery tomorrow to do some wine test for my marketing group project (Don't worry, I'll not forget to take pictures for you all).
Life is great, isn't it?

Sorry for the lack of blogging!
I was traveling to New York with Chean for couple days. Just touched down Portland and figured out I still have an assignment to complete before bragging about my NY trip :p
I know, I know… I miss you all too. But school always comes first, ok? ;)
To those who keep tracking on my latest update, here is a piece of brief preview about my latest travel destination -- New York.

I love New York. Truly, deeply do if the couple could excuse us for a second. (Love my new dress?)

Checking on subway map after shopping at 5th Avenue (See the H&M sign? That’s my favorite store).

View from 14th floor, Soho Grand Hotel.
A short stay at Soho Manhattan, NY really satisfy my empty soul! I will be back for more... and MORE about my NY trip on next~~
** Miyaki's Update **

Sleeping on Chean's bag, what a baby!

Sunbathing... He likes to go under the sun!

Baby, sorry for not bringing you along to NY.
My Japanese friend Yumiko was kind enough to petsit Miyaki while I wasn't around. Aligato, Yumiko-san ;)
Until next, people! Happy Monday~~

My Homecoming Diary - Hong Kong Trip Day 1 (10/1/09)
Sunday, May 3, 2009
Don't ask me why this post taken so long. I don't know either.
Maybe laziness, maybe too many things happen at once when I got back to U.S. or maybe simply saving the best for last.
Gonna warn you 1st before you read further, You Might Not Able To Recognize Me!!!
I gained nearly 4kg when I was spending 3 months vacation in M'sia. Well, I personally don't mine about the weight gain at all (are you sure, Bev?). How can you say NO to mum's cooking and other deadly-tasty local foods. Whatever you name it, I ate it! I mean com' on, forget about your weight! Especially when you are in Hong Kong!!!
As soon as I reached HK, Chean and I decided we should... Take a nap (sorry guys!). We were so tired. Want to know the reason? Read THIS.
The first day wasn't as happening as it supposed to be. Plainly about friends gathering, sightseeing and food indulgences.

Hello people!!! Beverly was here at Avenue of Stars!!!

Chean was there too~~

Look at the night view! How beautiful~~

And our new friend, Sherry :)

Wong Chao Sang hand print.

I got Tony Leong Chui Wai!

Enough, let's eat...

You have to try this! 潭鱼头(tam yu tao) steamboat! Four thumbs up (including Chean's).

Girls pose.

Introducing San San (on the left), our close friend since high school, our tour guide and our host for this trip.
Ok, guys, don't cheated by her innocent look and cute pose. She is a very dedicated, hardworking, responsible, smart, talented and complete workaholic I would say. Most of all, she is a sweet friend too.

Miss those foods!

The kick ass soups ever. 四川 (Si Chuan) flavor on the left and tomato one on the right. Tomato soup is the must-have.

The secret dip that goes with all ingredients.

Ermmm... 面巾 (mian jin)? How to name this in Mandarin and English? Anyone? Apologize for my ignorant.

San San with 流沙包 (lao sa bao). Ohh, I can never forgot how nice it tastes. The filling rush out as soon as you bite into it.

Cheese ball~~ Look at those cheese!!! Irresistible. Well, my face looked as round as the ball too.
Dessert time...

Sweet Black Sesame Soup (黑芝麻 Tong Shui).

Sweet bean curd soup (白果腐竹 Tong Shui). I can't describe how smooth they taste. AHHhhh...

桂花糕 on the left. Again, I have no idea what the right desserts called. It tasted like coconut milk. Love them~~
Four of us spent about HK$ 600++ on this extremely yummlicious dinner. Thanks for the treat Chean! Worth it, he said. Actually, we went there for steamboat again on the last day.
None of the steamboats I've tried can beat this one so far!
Now you know where and what to eat in Hong Kong ;)
