It's obvious I bet. Black Dove is a clear parody of Black Swan, unless you do not already know today's is the big day of the most anticipated 83rd Annual Academy Awards (aka Oscars). I'm so gonna have my eyes glued to my 46" TV screen for the next few hours, from red carpet to the live program, as many of my favorite movies -- Black Swan, Inception, Toy Story 3, The King's Speech, The Fighter, 127 hours -- are competing for the best movie awards.

I'm not sure about you, but I am a certified mani & pedi fanatic. It's not like I'm a compulsive nail art preacher, it's this crazy notion of mine that no look is complete without dressing the nails in color(s). Well, that statement is so true though and it has been proven quite profoundly in the fashion industry.

I'm well acknowledge that I'm not living in the world of high fashion yet I can never leave home with naked nails, god knows why, just an inexplicable sheer vanity I guess. Wait, please don't get me wrong, natural nails are ok too as long as they are healthy, strong, smooth and shinny.

And speaking of healthy nails, do you know that most of the traditional nail products actually contain toxic chemicals such as acetone, toluene or formaldehyde that are suspected to cause cancer, reproductive harm, breathing problems and other negative health effects. Brittle and yellowish nails that are weak, dry and unmanageable are part of the side effects too.


#2 Not intended to scare you, but if you are a frequent nail polish user like me, I'm sure those images above do arbitrary flow through your mind every time you apply the acetone based nail polish on your nails.

When the strong acetone and alcohol scents slowly fill up the room, we helplessly breath in those toxic ingredients, insipidly thought all the nail polish are pretty much formulated with the same chemicals and then vainly hope that the harsh chemicals won't damage or weaken our nails. Sounds familiar enough?

But gals, don't let your mind keep sending you those false information and honestly, you don't have to sacrifices the healthiness of your nails for vanity!

Happy 21st Birthday

Sorry for the lack of blogging!!! I promised Sun, a BS royal reader turned virtual good friend of mine, to update my abandoned blog today. Woo Hoo~~ Feel so great to finally have some time for myself and for BS.

You must be wondering how did I celebrate my big day, and to be extremely honest, I've no glitz & glam celebration this year (not that I had it before though). Everything went out decent and fine, nothing over the top except the expensive and sumptuous Italian dinner, and guess what, I even worked on my actual birthday, how awesome (you know I'm a 200% workaholic, don't you)!

So, here are some pictures I took after a hard day work on last Saturday. Don't place any expectation seriously, I was damn ah lian can!

#2 I know it!!! Not my exhausted or barely naked face, or the mouthwatering Tiramisu Cheesecake...


#3 It's the candles!!! Ok, I'm in serious denial, so what :p

Alright, now you raise your eyebrows and ask: R.E.A.L.L.Y? How old are you Beverly? And I'll cross my arm and say this to you, loud and clear: You real age does not always best represent your biological age! And with all the hard work and dedication I put onto my body and face, I do think I deserve 21 (in my own definition, of course, but, well, I'm not old at all ok).

I think an example will help me further illustrate this theory...


#4 Look, this fellow next to me is actually a 2 year-old puppy, but hey, he looks like 50 loh. Don't you think so? Obviously, my hypothesis is scientifically and logically proven.

Ok ok, I should stop polluting your mind... The bottom line for this post is just this: It's your birthday day, you rule it your way (my fave line, feel free to replace "birthday" with any special occasion). And once you did rule it in a crazy way, find some good stories to sugarcoat everything. And trust me, you will be real fine. Isn't the whole world is preaching the same practice? Hehe...
