Weekend Getaway to Golden Palm Tree

Tuesday, June 11, 2013

Right before I forget, Happy Dumpling Festival 端午节大快乐 to everyone!!! Can't even remember when was the last time I celebrate this with my family, most importantly in Malaysia, but it sure brings back loads of childhood memories. Remember to call home if you're away from your family, and stuff yourself with a big fat dumpling today :p

Speaking of family, my family & I had a blissful mini retreat at The Golden Palm Tree Iconic Resort & Spa last weekend. It supposed to be a family vacation but sis got to sit for exam and bro had to run an event, so ended up just 4 of us enjoying the ambiance of the 5 stars sea-villa...

#10 Was expecting a jacuzzi but the receptionist commented that it's only available in the Royale Palm Villa. It's ok, I can live with a tub ^^V

Initially, I booked for a Canary Palm Tree via the school holiday promo package that advertised on Golden Palm Tree's Facebook page, only at RM720 per night with complimentary breakfast buffet. It's such a great deal and thing got even more awesome when the staff upgraded my room to Ivory Palm Villa upon check-in, for F.R.E.E of course which I didn't ask for. So grateful!

GPT_11
#11 Bao Bao posing like a pro, haha... Thank you Aunt Annie for the Chateau De Sable dress and the matching bloomer, love the quality and design so much and now I'm a big fan!

This whole trip is on me as a post-celebration for Chloe's birthday, hehe *proud* Unfortunately we didn't get to do much due to the cloudy and rainy weather, but the happiest thing is that Chloe got to swim for the first time!

Now you'll say that's why Chloe is sick; she caught a cold after the swimming session. Nope! We only got into the pool for about 5 mins :'( Cause grandma was nagging unstoppably; she thinks baby shouldn't swim at all at such early age @.@ But hoh, Americans send their babies to swimming classes as early as 6 m/o leh, hmm... Btw, it's Daddy Chean who passed the viruses to her instead.

Let's Go to the Museum!

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Ok, I swear, initially, the title of this posting is typed as "Being A Vainpot," however, just when I have the mood to blog I realize my latest beauty items are placed in my mum's room and she went to bed already (@.@) Thus no luck getting the pics tonight, I'll do it again tomorrow... Wait for one more day can? :p

Now, what about a fun outing to The Negeri Sembilan State Museum? FYI, Negeri Sembilan is a state, Seremban is the town that I'm living at right now, my hometown to be precise :) I know, it doesn't sound too attractive for the locals, but hey, never judge too soon!

#1 The Minangkabau House, built in Minangkabau style.

#2 The roofline curve upward from the middle and end in points, in imitation of the water buffalo’s upward-curving horns.

#3 For your reference, here's an old pic I found online... The Negeri Sembilan arts scene in steeped in the Minangkabau culture and heritage dating back to the 15th century. The legacy of the Minangkabau heritage can be seen in its unique architectural style in many notable buildings throughout the state.

Actually... This museum "trip" was totally unplanned. I complained nonstop to my mum these days, saying that S'ban is not kid friendly at all (probably the whole MY is) and there's nothing much Chloe can do besides going to the mall or restaurants; I want to do something educational and meaningful instead, bla bla bla... My mum beh tahan me and finally gave in, she echoed my idea to visit to the State Museum today! Y.A.Y!!!

NSSM2
#4 See my mum's looked puzzled... She was like "really want to do this meh?" But she did have fun with us :D

NSSM1
#5 Me with naked face and my teething BB (^__^)V

NSSM4
#7 Shoes-less! It's both a cultural and cleanliness thing :)

NSSM6

NSSM7
#9 The exhibition on 1st floor; mainly about N.S. urban planning & development...

NSSM8
#10 It'd be so nice to hangout here if the weather could be a little kind to us, 35'C is not a joke (T___T)

Honestly, I think the N.S. State Museum is kinda cool (one of the exhibition halls is temporary closed, therefore not much to see compared with few years ago), of course there is room for improvement but it's still better than bringing children aimlessly lepak in the mall or screaming their lungs out for ipad/iphone in the restaurant. To me, the best education is to empower children to educate themselves by providing a safe, secure and sound learning environment that accommodates their learning needs. Just my two cents ;)

NSSM3
#11 At last, a pic of us waving goodbye! If you happen to visit Seremban, do stop by the State Museum to witness these awesome Minangkabau architectures yourself :D

P/s: Btw, most of the facts and descriptions are copied from the Internet, hope you enjoy this super brief history lesson~~

Goodnight,
Bev
