Ok, I think the picture above pretty much speaks for itself, no further elaboration needed. Wakaka, I did such a great job photographing and recording the magazine-like step-by-step mani making process.

And now...

#6 That's how the end result supposed to loo like, despite my short & ugly nails...

***************** Extra Tips *****************

Here's the ultimate secret to keep more money in your pocket! With this super duper easy step, you can create a new nail color for your nail art without splurging the extra bucks on expensive nail lacquer~~

In this case, I tried to tone down the dark brown color in order to create a softer & milky tone, simply by mixing it with the light pink color...

LP_6
Taa Daa...

You can always add a lighter or darker color to create your desired tone. Simple enough huh? See, now you know why art class is super crucial, LOL. It's time for you to apply and make good use of the coloring skill you learned in primary school ;)

Have fun & enjoy!

Gorgeously yours,
Bev

Retro Polka Dot Nails

Thursday, July 21, 2011

I'm sick, feeling dopey and dizzy now but still wish to end this awesome week with one last post. Pardon my language, I can't think at all, just gonna let my mind flow.

PD_1
1) Dotting Marbleizing Pen
2) Urban Outfitters Nail Lacquer, Smush
3) Skin Food, White
4) Sally Hansen Acrylic Top Coat

PD_3
#2 Got this in a Japanese Nail Care Boutique in Hawaii, it's super useful!

PD_2
#3 Apply 2 coats of your favorite base color; I chose light green for a retro touch.

PD_4
#4 Use the dotting marbleizing pen to create the polka dot pattern on each nail. Don't ask me how if you don't have a steady hand, practice makes perfect! ;)

PD_5
#5 It's not super perfect but it's not terribly bad also :p

PD_6
#6 Lastly, give your nails a top-coat shine to protect and make your manicure last longer!

Viola~~

Pink Gradient

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

Thanks to youtube and all the fashionistas' creativity and willingness to share their secrets, beauty tips are more accessible than 10 years ago. Every single thing that you need to know to make yourself prettier is at your fingertip now.

Just two days ago I accidentally found an awesome video on youtube while I was watching Taiwan's famous talk show, Kang1 Xi1 Lai2 Le1.

You must watch the clip below!!!

I was super eager to try the gradient effect on my nails after watching the clip. Guess what...

Pink_me3
Taa daa~~ I made them in P.I.N.K and lightly accessorized them ❤❤

Pink_me4
Super duper adorable and super duper easy to make!

Pink_me5
I think they look as pro as salon nails, seriously.

Pink_me2
I bet you can't argue that beautiful nails do make girls more attractive *W.I.N.K*

Pink_me1
Heart my newly made Pink Gradient Nails to death ❤❤

One money saving tip to share if you are tempt to try this out (speaking from my experience).

Pink_sponge1
Don't throw the sponge yet after dabbing the nail polish...

Pink_sponge2
Cut away the used and unwanted portion...

Pink_sponge3
And save the unused portion for next time. Smart or not? :p

Anyway, have you watched the clip yet? Go glam up your nails now~~

Bev

Simply 2 Sweet

Friday, May 7, 2010

While I was sitting in the class and working on my pink lappie yesterday, a super nice friend of mine, Mira who sat next to me said something like: "Yooouuu... You have a kiwi on your nail!"

It's quite nostalgic when I first heard that because another cute friend of mine said something like that before too, not kiwi but strawberry.

n579290381_1038920_1183
This was zillion years ago. Anyway.

Needless to say, we spent the next 10 mins solely talking about the kiwi on my mani. She said they look super C.U.T.E on me (that's why I said she's a super nice friend of mine, she's just beyond awesome) :D

I think they are not just cute, they are simply too S.W.E.E.T! And I'm 150% positive that I will be the sweetest person on earth if I blog about the mani process and share it with the world~~

nailpolishes
Essential tools for today's tutorial.

1) Sally Hansen base coat
2) Sally Hansen top coat
3) Wet & Wild french while creme
4) Sally Hansen mellow yellow

Base coat always comes first, then base color, then deco. I've one awesome trick to share, which I truly think is super awesome and will potentially secure my "sweetest person on earth" title.

Many have said to me that, every time when they try applying bright color on their nails (I mean the real nails, not artificial one ok), somehow the color won't pop out as vibrant as they anticipated.

It seems really hard or almost nearly impossible to achieve the luminous effect without using high end high price nail salon products.

Nah, it's not true. All you need is just a little trick ^_______^

sweet_whitebase
Try applying two layers of white or cream color before the bright color, think of it like the white base to bring out the vivid intensity.

sweet_yellow+whitebase
See~~ This is the luminous effect we're talking about ❤❤

sweet_yellow-whitenase
And this is when you do it without the white base. Uneven tone and beyond hideous.

sweet_drawing
Once you've nailed the base cost and base colors, you can now start drawing and decorating them. Be creative and have fun :D

sweet_fimo
I just can't get enough of the fimo, using it for every possibility.

sweet_mani
Taa Daa~~ Sweet sweet love ❤❤

Do you spot the kiwi yet?

Enjoy,
Bev

Let's Fimo~~

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

So you asked the typical how-to-use question when you first saw me blogging about the fimo sticks I got from Hawaii...

fimostick1
fimostick3
Fruits fimo sticks.

And my answer is as easy as One, Two, Three ❤❤

fimostick2
Cut them into small pieces, not too thin and not too thick, that's all you need to do.

And just glue them on your nails or anywhere that you could possibility think of, say, your bf's blackberry. For me, I glue them on...

PMN_nail1
My nails of course...

Don't judge, my nails are real short now and I clearly understand that the fruity fimo will look cuter if my nails are longer. I just want to demonstrate how it was done.

It was my very first attempt anyway, trying to place those tiny little oranges, kiwis and lemons to maximize the limited space. Guess I can do a better job next time!

So, after reading through the whole thing, maybe your head is pondering with another question now: Can we recycle the fine chopped fimo? I pop this out cause there are few friends of mine asking whether they could/should reuse the artificial nails.

It's definitely a "NO" for the artificial nails; for the fimo, I usually trash them right way although they kinda look new. I really don't want to give fungi/bacterias any opportunity to "rebirth", so it's really your choice to make actually ;)

Lastly, a big thank you to those who love my lookbook. It helps me keep track with my styles and collections! Super in love with it, wish you find it helpful too ❤❤

Summertime_lookbook

I have never tried selling my clothes or accessories and I will never sell them either. What I own and what I bought are basically something that could last for a super long period of time or can be used in hundred different ways, say, my LV Palermo GM and Tiffany & Co charms bracelet.

Trust me, the mall is full of temptations and you'll never buy enough. Don't bury yourself with endless credit card debts and work for the banks throughout your entire life, be a smart shopper instead :D

Take Care,
Bev

F for Flower

Monday, April 19, 2010

I'm allergic to pollen, although all the flowers are blossoming everywhere now, I can't go near them. I can only see them from a far distance but definitely no touching or smelling.

And if you know me good enough, I bet you probably noticed I spread hell lot of demotivational messages on Twitter & FB recently. Well, you'll be able to understand my frustrations if you were the one heading in and out both clinic & pharmacy more than once in every single month. Touch wood! I'm not cursing you, just thought to make you put yourself in my shoes.

Perhaps you might think it's just allergy, why make a big deal of it? It's not just allergy, it's H.I.V.E.S! I have mystery rashes all over my body, from my thighs to arms to my face. If you want to loose some weights, try google hives. You can easily find disgusting pictures with severe rashes.

Guess what, I've been seeing two dermatologists and none of the prescriptions helped relieving the omg-edly intolerable itchiness. I didn't sleep for 2 days, if this continue, I will either died from awful hives by unstoppably scratching my skin all the way to hell or straightly transform to a zombie. T______T

I'm really upset, and I do hate flowers now. But still, this is not going to change anything because spring is all about flower & floral prints, always.

FN_nail1
My new mani-mani-hoom D.I.Y collection.

FN_nail2
They are round, not square this time ;)

FN_me2
FN_me3
Cute or not? I mean my nails of course.

See how creative & productive I am, managed to spend 4 hours on the nails even though I'm sick :p

Ok lah, I confess because some of you really are too smart and have good eyes.

FN_nails3
I copied the nail art from Popteen April issue one :p

Hope I'll feel better after the 3rd doc visit later in the afternoon. Hold me in your prayers and wish me a speedy recovery!

Chanel Haute Couture Inspired Nail

Friday, March 5, 2010

I'm super upset every time when I think of how my future working life will be. I probably won't be able to blog so often, won't have time for myself and most importantly, I won't have the prestige to keep long nails or to do fancy nail arts with exaggerate accessories and eye-catching colors. T_______T

It's retty impossible for me to type with long nails and I don't want to showcase my vain lifestyle by having fruity tutti pinky ribbons nails at work. That also means my life is going to be over. T_______T

But I just can't live without mani, pedi and nail polish; I'll feel like naked seriously. Can I still do my nails under all these vapid restrictions? Can I have short pretty nails? The answer is a Y.E.S., absolutely.

nail_me2
Just like this.

Love the milky pink on my nails ❤❤

I want to do a Chanel-inspired nail color so bad after viewing the Chanel Haute Couture 2010 Spring-Summer fashion show.

Channel_haute1
ChannelHaute_5
ChannelHaute_2

Look at the array of soft colors! It's too elegant, too sweet yet with a touch vintage feel. Glamor in a humble way. Damn, I think I can be a real successful OL if I get to wear Chanel Haute Couture collection every single day.

Well, at least I got my Chanel-inspired nail and it's super easy to do.

nail_remover
Step 1: Remove the worn-out color.

I prefer to use the instant nail polish remover, easier and quicker without using a lot of cotton pads.

nail_cuticle
Step 2: Remove overgrown cuticle. I'm using Problem Cuticle Remover from Sally Hansen.

nail_before
Before removing cuticle. Y.I.K.E.S. *__*lll

nail_after
After. Clean and healthy nails! Y.A.Y. ❤❤

nail_file
Step 3: File and shape it as you desire.

nail_buffle
Step 4: Smooth the rough nail edges and surface. I'm using a different type of file, not a buffer.

nail_nailpolish
These are all we need.

nail_base
Step 5: Base coat.

nail_afterbase
If you prefer not wearing any color, you can just stop right here. Clean and healthy nails tell a lot about a girl's personality, I think.

nail_color
Step 6: Nail color. Get SinfulColors (Easy Going 700) if you wish to have the same nail color like me; it's only US$ 1.99.

Step 7: Top coat. One or two layers are fine, and you are all set :)

nail_me1
Yeah~~ A happy me with new nail color!

nail_me2
I think I can still be a super awesome OL without any Chanel Haute Couture Collection :p

nail_me
Will you hire me? Not with that hair bun of course.
