Not Quite Hippie

Monday, August 19, 2013

Chean gave me a dreadful look the very first time he saw me in this skin-showing dress, that was about two month ago and I totally understond where he's coming from... It's not the skin-showing design that got him saying "uh-huh", it's my excess belly fat! It was bursting & squeezing out from the criss-cross waist part!!! I then kept it in the closet and stored it in the lose-weight-before-you-wear-it section. I'm quite confident that I can carry it well when the time comes, you know, when my body naturally, gradually and healthily gets rid of the extra pounds, I'm gonna do it slow, eat healthy and get more rest at night, I'm nearly positive that I'm able to pull it off before the leaves fall off trees in the Autumn...

Ya, those are some of the self-deceptive words I feed myself for breakfast, every damn day.

And then the summer passes by in lightning speed.

No, I do not lose a pound.

And I finally come to accept the fact that I'm morphing into my 30's, that's the age when metabolism begins to slow and causes disarming effects like a bigger belly and steady weight gain. Thus, I can either workout or just sit there to celebrate a bigger belly! Yeah, belly, you did great today, thanks for the extra 2 inches, that kind of celebration.

No pain, no gain. No exercise, no weight lost. That's the damn deal I sign up for. So I started to workout last week, 30 mins a day with a elliptical trainer, also watch my diet and daily intake... Not to forget my favorite hot bath, that usually makes me sweat 2 pails of water weight...

Despite my weak body & low stamina, I survive (although I almost passed out once, how lame). To reward myself, I digged out the dress yesterday, the one with criss-cross waist design that I mention earlier, and put it on courageously...

My heart skips a beat...

I. Can. Wear. It. Now!!!

So I ran to Chean and screamed, "Look at me!!!"

And he went, "Hmm... Still not feeling it, I think it's the dress being too hippie, not your weight issue."

Anyway, my intention was to get him saying "You lose weight!" instead of criticizing the dress's design and of course, he never fails to disappoint me. Anyway, not that I care bout his opinion. Anyway, that's how I come up with the title. Anyway. Anyway.

Just when I was getting too carried away, I thought I could sit down and strike a pose with that dress but once again, my belly fat betrayed me! The cruelest fact is, I can only wear this dress standing, if I sit the belly fat will rush to burst out from the criss-cross part!!! W.T.H!

No, not getting there yet. I need more workout.

Or perhaps Chean is right, it's the damn dress, not my weight issue.

Feeling meh,
Bev

Yummy Avocado Mayonnaise Spread

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

It's about diet recipe again. Learned the recipe from a Chinese TV talk show called 《爱呀幸福女人》hosted by a Taiwanese celebrity 阿雅; she made this Avocado Mayo Spread for 刘嘉玲 (Carina Lau) while interviewing her on the show.

Chloe is super into avocado now, she eats it almost everyday but she only consumes 1/8 of a whole avocado. Therefore, Mama Bev constantly has to finish the leftover avocado by 48 hours before it became an awful brown slimy mess; that is why this recipe is so perfect!

Untitled
#1 Scoop out the flesh and put it in a bowl.
Untitled
#2 Mash or mush, your call. I like to be a little chunky.

Untitled
#3 Mix with mayo.

Untitled
#4 Add in your fave nutty goodness for a little crunchiness; walnut for me again.

Untitled
#5 This is the extra step. I simply like dried cranberries in everything :p

Untitled
#6 Taa daaaaaaa \(^__^)/

Super yummilicious! 阿雅 pairs the avocado mayo spread with a slice of cheese, but I decided to omit that since I'm on strict diet now. This is something that I can eat everyday, in fact, I just had for dinner! Yummy yummy in my tummy! Hehehe~~

p/s: Watch the show, it's awesome! I like the 蔡康永 episode the best!

Promise blog more often,
Bev

BS Signature Salad

Tuesday, January 8, 2013

Sorry for the lack of blogging, you know why I am sure... Ya, Chloe keeps me very busy, what a convenient excuse, hehe...

Anyway, those who are following me on Facebook already know that I'm currently on diet (again, for the 878582364528346 times), extremely loud this time as I'm dying to get rid of the stubborn postpartum fats. So here's the "diet recipe" that I self-invented, the BS signature salad that I shamelessly called, is something that is so simple to make and so delicious to eat~~ Not only it is packed with exponentially antioxidants and nutritional benefits but also super filling too! Perfect for lunch ^__^V

** Simple Egg Salad **
Untitled
#1 This adds a little extra flavor to the veggie salad but it's totally optional, omit the egg salad if you want a super duper skinny salad.

Step 1: Mash up the chopped hard-boiled egg with a fork or spoon.

Step 2: Add in sugar if you want a little sweetness or sprinkle with salt, your call (I like it sweet).

Step 3: Mix together with 1-2 tbsp of Mayo to achieve the desired texture, creamy or a bit dry (I personally prefer the creamy & moist one).

Untitled
#2 Taa daa~~ It's my all time fave, and I can eat 3 slices of bread with it despite the fact that I hate Gardenier & Popeye or any kind of bread; it also brings back lotsa high school memories... Ahem... grandmother storytelling time... Not going to steal the credit, my aunt actually taught me the recipe and this egg salad brought in so much extra pocket money back then, serious. My mum & aunts were running a canteen in a high school when I was 13-15 (15 years ago?), so I used to make the egg salad sandwiches and sold them at RM1.20 for two pieces, wakaka~~ It was good business I tell you (cause I only made a loaf, that means I can roughly earn about RM12-15 every day), the students kept coming back for more and I even had regular customers loh :p

The end. Now back to the salad...

Untitled
#3 Prepacked organic spring mix veggie (the main ingredient), pecans, dried cranberries (or raisins), and sunflower seeds. As for the nutty part, just add whatever nuts that you like; it just happened that I have the pecans & sunflower seeds at home.

Untitled
#4 The salad dressing: Balsamic vinegar and olive oil (also my cooking oil). Sorry about the bad pic, argh, Meitu's quality is so poor (T^T).

Untitled
#5 Also, pick a type of your favorite fruit, choose something that will go with the earthy taste of the veggie salad k... Definitely no durian. Usually, apple and grapefruit are the first two options but I ran out of them, so I added avocado instead.

Then, slightly mix all the ingredient (don't overmix as the egg salad may become gooey & watery), and feel the skinniness running through your throat to your belly.

Happy dieting!!!

p/s: Feel free to add in cucumber, red/yellow/green sweet pepper, carrot, celery and etc... The sky is the limit, ermm, I mean tummy...

Have fun,
Bev

My Secret Diet Plan

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

Hooray~~ You no longer have to send me personal messages or buzz me on Facebook to request for diet tips, I'm making my diet plan an open secret now! To make this post more convincing, let's check out the end result on my actual wedding day before disclosing the ultimate secret.

Wait, I wasn't super skinny, it's not my aim to look super bony also because Chean hates it, but I did achieve my goal! That makes me feel super proud of my determination...

MSDP_4
#1 If you've ever tried on a traditional gown, you'd notice that the material (the stiff and solid gold and silver threads) tends to instantly add a few pounds to your body as soon as you put it on. I'm glad that I still look okay, luckily.

MSDP_2
#2 Love the corset design so much, a little vintage, a little classy, and a little sexy.

MSDP_1
#3 The corset design helps accentuate my 23-inch waist. No exaggeration, I measured and re-measured and re-re-measured it, again and again and again while holding my jaw; it's like an extra bonus for my hard work!

MSDP_3
#4 My Ji Muis were equally surprised too! Love them~~

MSDP_5
#5 Random pic taken by Eling. With my cousin sisters, Elaine & Yvonne.

MSDP_6
#6 The dinner dress makes me even taller and slimmer... How can I not fall in love with it (and myself, hehe)?

It only takes me two weeks to drop the 3 inches, you ready to find out how?

But wait, this truly is a hardcore diet from hell and I must say, it's not a healthy practice in long run. If you have tried many, many different approaches yet you still can't shake off the extra pounds and in desperate need to look fab in special occasion, maybe you can adopt the strategies below. But!!! Diet at your own risk, ok!

Secret Weapon #1 Lipodrene Appetite Suppressant

lipodrene-300x415
This is super effective! It increases your metabolism, reduced cravings, gives you energy while suppressing your appetite. Drink a lot of water and avoid caffeine. Read the direction carefully and understand its side effects. It works for me, but maybe not for everyone. I did experience queasiness and felt a little hyper during the 1st & 2nd day, so I reduced the dosage to 2 tablets a day--one in the morning, one after lunch. Lipodrene is not available in M'sia I guess, so try ebay or google. Read H.E.R.E for more details.

Secret Weapon #2 NH Detoxlim Natural Clenx Tea

Picture 11

Gentle formula. It doesn't upset my stomach yet it does exactly what it's supposed to do. It doesn't make me rush to the restroom frequently, it just regulate the bowel movement. Guess what, it helps losing the water weight too, good way to get rid of the excess water retention.

Secret Weapon #3 Orang Kampung Teh Herba

Orang Kampung Teh Herbs + Limau Purut (30 sachets)
Just providing you with another alternative that my sis and I love. As great as NH Detoxlim because it's made of natural and traditional herbs as well. My sis & I have been taking it on and off for 3 months. Alhamdulillah, it works effectively~~

Secret Weapon #4 One Meal a Day

Although we are spoiled with many options that promise great slimming results, we can't solely rely on diet pills and cleansing tea. The harder you work, the slimmer you get. So, one of my all-time strategies is to take only one meal a day, but don't have it all at once, split the meal into three portions instead. Say, you are craving for chicken rice now, go for it, there's no wrong to indulge, but split it into 3 equal portions, enjoy the 1st portion then take another two separately. I usually do it this way: first portion for breakfast or lunch, 2nd for lunch or tea time, 3rd for dinner. I know you would say, what if I get hungry at night? Get healthy and light snacks like cracker or cereal, then follow by a full glass of cleansing tea. Burp. Now you sure can hug your belly in bed and sleep soundly.

Secret Weapon #5 Fruits in The Morning

Feed yourself with your favorite fruits and a glass of warm water before breakfast. An apple or an orange or a handful of grapes or strawberries. Any fruits you like. No one wants to sacrifice youthful and supple body for sagging skin. If that's what I'd get, I rather quit.

Secret Weapon #6 Tight Clothes Are Your Best Trainer

Wear real tight clothes while you are at home, except when you are sleeping. It gives you a clear perspective of your body shape and it also cruelly magnifies your extra fats and pounds. It then helps motivate me to work even harder cause when I wear my super tight clothes at home, my bro will say mean things to me like, ewww, is that your fat tummy? Or my sis will shower me with her extremely sincere and honest opinions like, Jie, you really gain weight. I'm sure you won't dare to pig out in front of them after hearing those words. Remember to weigh and measure yourself every day too! Well, you know, tight clothes may shrink or get loose as time progresses, hehe...

Secret Weapon #7 Get Rid of Rice or Noodle

I know, rice and noodle are an Asian thing, we can't survive without them. But hey, they are super high in carbohydrates! So, you can either include rice or noodle in your daily diet. I choose the latter. And by saying that, I ate rice for less than 5 times for about 3 months. Exception happened when I was traveling or enjoying Bah Ku Teh. If you are not a big fans of rice like me, I don't see the point to consume it. Honestly.

Secret Weapon #8 Exercise, Exercise, Exercise

I hate it! But my brother and sister enjoy it and I notice obvious results too. Anyway, I jogged every day during the last week of my wedding preparation, not sure if that really works in such a short period of time, I simply did it to make myself feel less guilty. End of story. Period.

Hope you find this helpful. And again, the methods stated above may not work for you. Some tips may seem utterly ridiculous, some you may find a little too intensive, but that's what I did to drop the extra pounds and inches for my wedding and just for my wedding. I'm eating normal and have been pigging out a lot ever since then. One last advice, those secret weapons only promise short-term result, if you are shooting for a long-term healthy diet, maybe we could discuss that in the near future.

Have a wonderful day ahead!!!

Happy dieting,
Bev

Go! Go! Diet!

diet
1) Grape fruit. Needless to say, grapefruit diet is not a myth. There are tons of researches and findings have proven this secret weight-loss weapon actually works better than what you can anticipate. Binge it, savor it and benefit from it.

2) Vitamin C. When you are sailing along the road of diet, getting an adequate amount of the vitamin C will save you a lot of money on your medical bills. I'm poor, I need Vitamin C.

3) 6" Subway Veggie Delite Sandwich. Super filling, beyond tasty and it's only as low as 230 calories. What else can you ask for?

diet2
4) Silk Chocolate Almond Milk & Banana Nut Cheerios. You can opt for almond milk instead of chocolate almond milk, they both taste equally delicious to me. And Cheerios? I'm eating them for breakfast, and supper sometimes. You can definitely find a healthier and less calories cereal, but man, this banana nut cheerios just way too addictive to me.

5) Milo + Hup Seng crackers. You know I've been eating this all these while, and hey, Malaysians, we got the best crackers in the world!

6) Homemade Chinese Herbal Soup. I'm a beauty warrior, you know that better than I know myself. I don't want to be skinny but look like shit. In that case, homemade Chinese herbal soup just fits right in.

Diet_me
Yes, I did loss weight. And yes, I gained it back within a week of bad eating habits, skipping meals, starving and then over eating.

The whole diet plan has became a true challenge now as I no longer have the luxury of time to prepare my meal, to eat on time and to watch my diet, how ironic. But I'm going to keep working on this.

Diet is a lifelong mission isn't it? Don't give up too early because failure is the mother of success (that's a Chinese proverb, it's ok if you don't understand what I'm saying, Google helps).

Have a great day gals~~

Fat but still fab,
Bev

Watch My Diet is Back!

Friday, January 7, 2011

Holiday is finally over, so is my uncontrollable eating habit. It's no surprise that the most often-heard New Years resolution is to lose weight, and together here on BS we will support each other to shake away the extra pounds we gained during the holiday season.

So ya, I'm bringing Watch My Diet back to motivate myself, and hopefully it'll motivate you too! Let's stay in shape & stay healthy together!

It's my first week executing this diet plan and I'm slowly working my way out. The first two weeks are the toughest because you already so used to indulge yourself to eat your day into oblivion and now what, you have to give up all the tasty food in one night? It just doesn't sound rational, at least to me.

So Mum, don't worry, I'm eating, just that I no longer allow myself to pig out anymore. Here, sneak peek my weekday brunches! Yes, I made those! Hehe...

** Ok, I confess, I grab & twist the pic's background from ViVi net, at least I give credit lah :p

Of course, there is more than one approach to lose weight, and I'm only sharing one of many approaches here: Eat less, eat smart, eat healthy. And of course, exercise is very important, in fact I highly recommend that (just that I don't see myself doing that). You're welcome to critique my approach but I've lost 2kg within a week so far, I know, those are just water weight, more works to be done. Anyway, you have your way to lose weight and I have mine, so a little mutual respect goes a long way. I really need to put myself on diet for my wedding, so be nice & be supportive, would you?

Have a great weekend ❤❤

Cheers,
Bev

Love My Fate

Sunday, October 31, 2010

So I really didn't give much thoughts to the weight issues, at least not on BS lately. I'm such a foodie and I love foods, guess I've mentioned this more that I could recall the exact number, something like 7647237456345283 perhaps?

I'm one of those super lucky gal, I mean seriously. I don't have huge appetite but I can always make room for foods that I like; I love to eat and I'm obsess with weight at the same time; I can spend the whole evening nomming countless french fries & 3 humongous fried chickens (either wings or drumsticks) while gulping down a 800 ml coke at the same time for 3 consecutive days without feeling guilty or gaining a lbs. Noop, no exercise, you never see me exercise by the way, perhaps promenade.

But all these luckiness suddenly wave me goodbye one day, probably just the day right after my 25th birthday when my metabolism decided I'm old enough to be abandoned.

After nearly a year of compulsive consumption (good food, healthy food & junk food all at once), I gained weight like hell, at the damnedest scale which I would then interpret it as unhealthy. I feel tired easily, fatigue whenever I try to just walk a little faster on slanting road, and the fat analysis showed on my weighting scale is always beyond the normal rate. Although I try to not care about the weight issue that seems conquering my body, mind & soul a little by little each and everyday, I found myself constantly check on the food labels in order to console my sad (and fat) soul that it is ok to E.A.T as much as I want to. Seems pretty pathetic isn't it?

Maybe this is my fate, you know, to eat, to gain weight, to go on a healthy diet and then to start eating my days into oblivion again. Yup, to go through the vicious circle of a typical yo-yo dieter as well.

So ya, I've set my goal and I'm officially on diet again. Less sugar, low carb, more fruit and veggie will be the new language on my twitter & FB page but I'm still not feeling exercise yet, maybe I'll change my mind soon cause exercise seems like the ultimate rule to keep our bodies in shape, we will see.

Ok, I know, I'm not fat at all as what you all have always told me (truly appreciated for positive energy you gave me, now I just need more) or maybe some of you may even thought I am skinny. Well, don't let my legs and arms manipulate you, they never grow an inch since I was 17, I bet they'll stay the same even if I gain another 30kg. Of course, again, I count that as a blessing, but right now, I need to spare myself some time & rooms to work on that writhing mass of insecurity that's hidden inside.

I'm sure, it won't take too long to see me smile and seek solace in food again.

Good day and good luck.

Keeping Up With My Diet

Monday, December 14, 2009

Hello people~~

WOW... Massive response about the ER moment huh. Just chilled, ok? I'm decent.

Stop guessing about my illness and stop questioning about my diet plan. I know, it's too easy to associate the diet plan as the cause of the whole ER thingie.

I've decided to keep the privacy this time, yet I want to declare these two scenarios are not related at all. Sorry, bad guess.

I'm doing very very fine with the diet plan.

keepingup_me4
Seeing is believing ^^

Ohh, Chean got a new Canon G11 :) How cool~~

keepingup_me6
Glimpse on my unfinished pink corner. Sigh, is there any way of getting around this bottleneck?

"I think your corner is nice enough. Sometimes less is more." Chean replied

keepingup_me7
As soon as he said that, I tossed my baby Tofu to him :p

He said that simply because he has been dissenting to paint me a pink wall. I'm trying to do the best I can :'(

Anyway, forget about Chean for this moment. Back to our business.

keepingup_me5
Notice the blue box?

keepingup_manibox
Want me to open it?

keepingup_manibox2
I called it Mani Box ^^

If your are constantly on the go, say traveling or moving from one place to another like me, I would suggest you to get a tool box like this.

You can easily find it at any hardware department. I got mine at Jusco 4 years ago; I only paid like RM 16 that time which is a super duper great deal.

Since I don't keep my nail polishes for more than 6 months, it's spacious and large enough for me.

The little compartments make my life easier too. At least I don't have to dive in the drawers all the time while working for my mani & pedi :p

Get organize, grab it and go.

nails
With that, you can constantly flabbergast everyone with your adorable nails :)

keepingup_me3
Isn't it utterly awesome to have the daring nail art without paying the salon price?

Have you noticed anything different about my eyes? I was wearing a super gorgeous brown color lens!

Thank you Karin for buying and shipping the lens all the way from Taiwan. You make me deadly in love with them @.@

keepingup_me2
Bigger and brighter right? Of course, natural too ^^

keepingup_me1
Really can't wait for a skinnier me. That will be more fab :p

See, I'm decent. You probably can tell after seeing me toying with all my babies.

Ohh, we almost missed you out, Miyaki...

keepingup_miyaki+me
Cuddling on my laps, Si Manja (I'll never forget B.M.)

keepingup_miyaki+me2
Kissing...

keepingup_miyaki+me3
And posing...

Don't worry, k? I always take very good care about myself, ALWAYS :)

** Coming Up Nexy **
Feel vexed about Christmas presents? I have some ideas for you!!!

Self-indulgence

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Hello readers~~

I told you we'll see each other REAL soon, didn't I? I'm super unpredictable (a typical Aquarius's attitude), so visit everyday to make sure you don't miss any juicy gorgeous updates ^^

** "Watch My Diet" Progress **

Many of you have asked me about my progress on the "Watch My Diet" program.

Ahhh hemmm...

I'm here to announce (proud and loud) that I have solidly lost 3 pounds in two week!!!

self4
You can see my body and my legs are slimmer.

self1
My face is less rounded! No photoshop needed!

self2
I'm thrilled that my jaw line is more defined now. Yay!!!

The diet plan is working! It is awesomely working!!!

I still have one and a half month to go in order to complete the whole program.

If everything work out accordingly, I'll reveal the genius a.k.a my wellness adviser behind this diet plan. All you need to do is - stay tuned!

** iPhone Apps **

I just can't get enough of all the iPhone apps (especially the FOC one). Seriously, I don't think I need the Nintendo DSi anymore!!! Gonna aim for the new iPhone on next summer ^^

After the Sally Spa and Cake Mania 3, most of my free time was occupied by Fish Tycoon. It is an easy, but maybe a little cheesy on-going game.

It works like an real aquarium. All you need to do is to feed your fishes, breed them (discover new breeds at the same time), sell them in the store. Then, use the money you earned for equipments and tools to improve the fishes lives and breeds.

fishtycoon2
My aquarium on Nov 1st.

fishtycoon
Only have 2 fishes for sale :(

Now I've became super pro already! Hehehe...

Chean doesn't like the Fish Tycoon so much because it's kinda stupid and cheesy to him; and, he hates it even more every time I play until his iPhone battery died.

What about you? What's your favorite iPhone Apps?

** Google Wave **

Picture 3
Yay!!! I got WAVE~~

Chean had it before me but he failed to send me the invitation for some reasons. He hooked me up with WAVE eventually after several attempts.

Picture 4
The Bev & Chean's WAVE experiment.

Google WAVE is really cool but what's for? Perhaps it will only be useful when it gets commercialized.

Don't request yet, I can't send out any invitation though. Ask Google why on my behalf.

** Pinky Mini Cupcakes **

Yup, I baked again! Wanna practice my baking skill before poisoning all the guests on my house warming party on Dec.

minicupcakes2
minicupcakes1
It's PINK~~

minicupcakes4
Plain.

minicupcakes5
Strawberry.

minicupcakes3
Sprinkles.

Hungry yet? Here's the RECIPE (the same recipe I used before)! Enjoy~~

** Naughty and Nice Zebra Mani **

zebraprint
My very first attempt to "mani" with Konad! (pardon my short nails and the lousy zebra prints)

I'm gonna alter a full blog post about this ass-kicking mani tool next. You'll love it, like the way you love my blog ;)

Talk to you soooooon~~

Cheers,
Beverly
