Glimpse on Austin IV

What's next buddies? More foods obviously!! Texas Bar-B-Q is so famous. Although I seldom take meat, I will never miss REAL Texas BBQ. Ruby's country store is highly recommended by local people.

Pork ribs and sausages

The meats were medium cooked, juicy inside. It tasted even better with homemade BBQ and hot sauce. Hmmmmm...This restaurant was so organic and filled with 80's Texas feel. You might have a chance to see REAL cowboy riding on his house and grasping for his foods.

I won't bother if you're bore with all these Texas posts, still have more to go. Where are we? Ohh ya, Texas night life. SXSW (South by South West) music festival was awesome! Rock bands and alternative musics rocked our entire night.

party2
What a crowd, it was so packed! And there was a long queue at the main entrance still. So, I bet you don't need further explanation about how well the bands were.

Dominick, can you stay sober for just a second? I need a nice shot.

We hang out till 2a.m with all my hubby's colleagues and bosses. Such a great time~~ Cool music, awesome friends and free drinks... what's more can I ask for?

Texas is subject to 8.25% sales tax. That means, add an additional 8.25% on whatever you see on the price tag. I know some other states have even higher tax but I don't see any point to pay more since Portland is sales tax free. Unsurprisingly, that's the only reason I shopped less.

Phewwww...I'm done with the Texas trip!!
This time for real.

dinner6
The Belmont. This is where we had our dinner on the second day. For your information, country music is one of the Texas's element. My hubby and I picked this restaurant randomly at the downtown because there was a live band from 9p.m to 12a.m. LIVE BAND!!

beer
His local brew beer (a must-try). I sipped and it tasted as smooth as water.

martini
My Mexican Martini (a must-try too). Thumb ups! Smoother than typical martini.

dinner3
Crews were setting up the stage. See, I was at the front!!

burger
His grilled burger. Oh gosh, the cheese was melting!!!

pasta
My shrimp pasta. The Parmesan cheese were glistering.

dinner5
The theme of that night was Cha Cha. They sang Spanish songs in Cha Cha tempo. I felt like I was dinning on sandy beach. So relaxing...

cheesecake
Last but certainly not least, the cheesecake dessert.

dinner2
I wonder all the customers were there for dancing instead of eating. Guess what, they are well-trained.

However, too much cook spoil the soup.

There was one fellow (at his late 50's I guess) kept dancing on every single song the band played. Twisting his butt on the dance floor without concerning my appetite. Uncle, do you think you need some rest seriously? Osteoporosis is a big deal.

Well, that's my sincere advice though. The following day, we extended our Texas food adventure to a new level. This time is real Mexican foods, dude.

cactus1
Iron Cactus was the name of the restaurant. We were seated in the bar while waiting for our turn. Drinks! Drinks! Drinks!

magarita
Recognize these? Yup, that's were Magaritas! The ordinary Magarita (on the left) was mine, the Jalapeno Magarita (on the right of course) was him. These are the best of Texas!

nachos1
nachos2
OMG...The cheese was so creamy!! I'm a big fan of cheese. We had nachos (mexican chips) with Magaritas. So dreamy...

queladas
I was stuffed with chips and cheese. Therefore, this Mexican wrap appetizer, Quesilladas will be just nice for me.

rice
He ordered a Tequila Ginger Glazed Breast of Chicken. What a glamor name. Not only looked great but taste good also.

Obviously, I was having a break for my diet plan (wink wink). Let's put yourself in my shoe. How can you say "NO" to all these irresistible foods? It was so enticing! I don't care if I gain more pounds, I DON'T CARE...

Cowboy culture, warm weather, country musics, yummy Texas foods and exotic crowd of travelers. What's more about Austin, Texas?

I would say the Texas State Capitol, a splendid and magnificent building that makes Austin a compelling attraction. This remarkable landmark and spectacular architecture caught my attention all the time.

No matter day or night, close or far, the view is always beckoned.

Besides, Austin downtown is thrilled with tons of unique country scenes. It was so fun walking down the street with people in different walks of life.

The most enjoyable thing during this 5 days trip was getting to know some of my hubby's colleagues. They are so friendly and easy going. I felt like I was one of the team member too. Most importantly, I HAVE FRIENDS now!

gaia
Gaia and I, after having lunch at the downtown.

Actually, there are still a lot more pictures to edit and organize in my desktop. ARGHH... this is definitely not a piece of cake! Gimme more time to introduce more about Austin to you, ok?
