Make Friends

Monday, December 19, 2011

I have really straight, fine and thin hair, I think I got it from my dad. People might often see that as a plus but I sometimes see it as a minus (just wanna rhyme the line, I mean disadvantage)...

Ya, it's a blessing to have that kind of baby soft hair texture (Chean loves it) but it is just way too soft sometimes, in other words it is very F.L.A.T and L.I.M.P!!! That gives me enough headache to style or to do anything to it.

So I decided to change my hair color to a lighter tone 3 years ago, and that makes a dramatic changes in my life. It instantly brings more definition to my hair and also seems to create the illusion of the extra hair volume. I didn't stop there but taking it to the next level, I curl my hair too. Not the perm, I just curl it with curling iron, like every 2-3 days, or whenever I feel like it.

Here comes the problems...

After all the damage I've done to my hair, with the frequent coloring, chemical treatment, over-styling, and frequent blow-drying, I think I'm tasting the negative consequences now -- Hello, unmanageable & damaged hair T____T

Thus, getting good hair care products is beyond essential, especially with damaged hair and the fact that I shampoo my hair every day (I know some people may find this extremely interesting, especially in the winter, but it truly is a Malaysian thing, we shower at least once a day, it's a habit, a good one I suppose). I love Asience, Alterna & Redken hair care products, and I've been switching between these brands over these years. Until recently... I discovered something so good when I was running out of Asience conditioner last week, I truly think it deserves a full post...

You have to try the Nourishing Oil Care Daily Treatment Conditioner (left), it's soooooo good! I bought this first before getting the shampoo & leave-in smoothing cream.

This is the leave-in smoothing cream that I use every day now, adore its lovely scent and it moisturizes the roots of my hair in no time.

When I first got my hands on Dove hair care products six years ago, it was a huge disappointment, the products did not reach my expectation at all, I then never purchased any of it again. Lately, I just don't know what got into me that makes me so sentimental, I think everything deserves a second chance, so I picked the Daily Treatment Conditioner over the hundreds of other brands, although they are all sitting together sharing the same shelves at Target. But I'm so glad that I did give Dove, and also give my hair a chance to rejoice in its good fortune.

One last piece of sincere advice, what works for me may not work for you, vice versa. And, the brands/products you like or dislike in the past may not do justice to their current innovations. Just keep an open mind and don't judge before trying.

Say yes to beautiful hair, beautiful face and well, a beautiful heart too~~ It's the whole package of true beauty we are talking about.

Now go kick start your beautiful day with Dove's cute ads. I hope you enjoy reading this review, see you soon~~

Daily Use Products

Thursday, August 19, 2010

Ever wondered what products are sitting on my bathroom rack and my dressing table recently? Request granted, I'm here to reveal some of my daily use products! I purposely picked those products that are extremely accessible and super affordable, you can easily buy them at local shopping mall, drug store or convenience store ;)

DUP_1
(left) Summer's Eve foaming Bath for sensitive skin
(right) Suave lavender & wild cherry blossom body wash

I think I have more than 5 different body shower gels, hehe. Thinking about using different scents and aromas everyday makes me S.M.I.L.E. I love bathing, called me Shizuka ❤❤

DUP_2
(top) Redken fresh curls shampoo
(bottom) Asience essence water

Redken is one of the famous professional hair care brands, its products' quality is unquestionable. Love this shampoo because it gives me splendid natural curls whenever I need that ;)

You know right, I dye my hair pretty often, thus I really can't live without hair essence. Asience essence water always surprises me as it instantly tames and softens the ridiculous frizz within a few sprays. Thumbs up! Try Uwajimaya if you want to grab that.

DUP_3
(top) Contact Lens Solution
(bottom) Visine-A eye drops

This Opti-free solution is strongly recommended by my optometrist when I did a eye health exam last September. It does help retain moisture on my contact lenses and makes my eyes feel more comfortable compares to other products.

Visine-A eye drops help temporary relieve itchy, red allergy eyes. I'm allergic to pollen and dirt, will definitely bring it along when I travel to a new places, you never know when you need it ;)

DUP_4
(top) L'Occitane Rose Velvet Hand Cream
(middle) Onyx Professional Nail Polish Remover
(bottom) Amway Glister toothpaste

L'Occitane hand cream is a must-have! Apply it before you go to bed and wake up with soft and smooth hands! It worth the price!

I've tons of nail polish removers but I love Onyx the most because its specially designed pump dispenses the polish remover easily and quickly! If you don't like the strong strawberry scent, you can always refill it with other nail removers. A good buy :D

My one-year supply (or more than one year) of Amway Glister toothpaste, Hehe... Crazy right? But I tell you, once you've tried that, you'll never switch back to any other household brands. Most of the toothpaste choices that are selling in a typical drugstore aisle will give you that weird "powdery" texture. You probably won't notice that all these while, but you can definitely tell the difference once you've tried the Glister toothpaste. I'm not exaggerating at all, that's why I did bulk purchasing. I think you can only get this through Amway distributors or on Amway's website.

Daily use products are as important as the foods you consume everyday; therefore, getting great quality products is the very basic step for a healthy beautiful life.

Now go organize your shopping list! Happy Shopping, pretty ladies ❤❤

Secret Formulas

Monday, June 7, 2010

Everyone has been asking me the same question when it comes to relationship: What's your secret to your 8-year-relationship (coming to nine years this August *wink*)?

It's my last day of school, I'm overjoy and feeling generous. After reassessing my long-term relationship as well as the ups and downs that Chean and I have been through, I've listed down five secrets that I think are by far the most important things for us, girls, to avoid.

(Well, I don't care whether you agree on or not, I'm just speaking from experience. I know some of you may have greater thoughts, I'm just sharing, and it's my blog after all. Don't be offensive, ok.)

SF_me3
#1 Don’t nag.

You know how annoying it gets when someone unstoppably repeating the same phrases over and over again until those phrases deep-seated in your mind in a subconscious way. It’s brutal and abusive; it doesn’t matter if you’re doing it with perfectly holly intention or if you deceivably think you’re not naggy at all (hey, repeating the same phrase more than 3 times is often considered naggy). He’s a grown man; let him figure it out by himself. Trust me, he’s not going to listen anyway, go save your energy for something that’s more promising and beneficial, say, a pampering bubble bath follows with a soothing facial mask. Ahhhhhh…

SF_me2
#2 Don’t gossip.

Your 365 days efforts on creating the last-best-girlfriend-on-earth image will eventually down to drain when you start gossiping, not those entertainment gossips you found on Huffingpost.com (those are very good ice-breakers in fact, I highly recommended) but those badmouth-people-behind-their-back kinda things. You will either: 1) totally lost your creditability, 2) give him a chance to see you as a green-eyed monster, or 3) both. So, be nice, not only to others, but also to yourself.

#3 Don’t cry (not too often, save the trees please)

Ok, this is a reminder for myself obviously. I’m an Aquarius, what do you expect! But seriously, tears are the most powerful weapons. With it, you can make or break a relationship. Use it wisely and remember not to threaten your man by tears even if that’s the only way to get your first Hermes.

SF_me1
#4 Don’t speak, Listen.

Guys need a listener more than a speaker honestly. When he is feeling a bit low or having mini-meltdown, try to be a good listener, I’m sure he will appreciate that more than a three hours free lectures.

#5 Don’t be emo.

This is just to make this whole secret formulas thingie looks more rational and more pro, also to show that I do employ critical thinking skills here. However, I truly understand it is very hard (nearly impossible, to be precise) for girls not to be emo because pre-menstrual symptoms are the god-given excuse; it’s a total waste if we do not fully leverage that to our advantage. Guys, since we are committed to be the nicest girlfriends already, you can’t just sit back and do nothing right? A little give and take goes a long way ^________^V

As I said, I'm feeling generous today, since I'm showing the hairband already I might as well portray the versatility of the hairband.

SF_bracelet
I use it as bracelet sometimes.

SF_necklace
I bet you saw me wearing it as a necklace before too.

Ok lah, enough for today, gonna end this post by bribing you with flowery words and wishes:

Wishing all couples, bachelors, bachelorettes, and those who are planning to dive in a serious relationship or those who accidentally fall in the love trap a very sweet and loving journey ahead.

Best of luck,
Bev

Another quickie. Don't hate me yet, I'm not slacking, I'm just busy traveling. So bare with me for a little while more, k?

Bought two new hairbands recently but hardly find any excuses to use them yet. I often attack by migraine and headache every time I try to put hair accessories on my head for more than 2 hours. God knows why.

But I still love to own them because they glam up a boring outfit instantly and add different elements to my "look of the day."

Well, I'm sure will I ever use them in the near future. Maybe yes, maybe no. Who cares anyway, they look great on pictures ^__________^V

hairband1
hairband2
hairband3
Braided hairband from H&M. You don't have to be blonde to wear this, it's just another hairband ;)

hairband6
hairband5
hairband4
Studded headband from F21.

I know you miss me. I'll be back soon~~ Enjoy your weekend :D

p/s: Yup, I dyed my hair again. It's still the same Lucido-L Hazelnut I got previously ;)

Hair band, For Real

Saturday, May 8, 2010

This blog post is dedicated for those who posted comments requesting me to do a tutorial about my real "hair" band.

Ok, there's not such thing as "real hair band". It's about how to tie your hair without showing the rubber band, to be precise.

So, let's get started.

rubberband+pin
All you need are a rubber band and a bobby pin, nothing fancy.

HBFR_1
Step 1: Tie your hair into a ponytail with the rubber band as you would normally do.

HBFR_2
Step 2: Simply choose a strand, I usually select the longest one.

Step 3: Coil strand around to hide the rubber band.

HBFR_3
Step 4: Use bobby pin to secure it in place.

But wait...

Here's the trickiest part, you've successfully made the rubber band invisible, now you don't want your bobby pin to show either.

So...

HBFR_4
Step 5: Tuck the bobby pin I.N.T.O your ponytail to hide it.

I know, it's messy. But it's really hard for me tie my hair and take pictures at the same time. You're welcome to spray over the newly formed hair band to tidy it up if you want to, but I usually skip that :p

HBFR_5
This is how it supposed to look like.

HBFR_6
It's sooooo easy.

HBFR_me1
Now you don't have to buy new hair accessories anymore...

HBFR_me2
Because we already have the best one, don't we?

Hope you find this helpful. Don't give up if you fail the first time; remember the 2P rule, practice & patience ;)

Best of luck,
Bev

CBC_sample2
Hi 5 to you for liking my curls!

You probably have noticed that I changing the way I look, not only my clothes, my hair colors but also the styles.

It doesn't matter I failed or succeeded (you define with your own terms) but the process of discovering the vainest side of me is kinda fun. I guess I'll never quit ^____^

Guess what, with a little investment and load of practices, we all can outrace our ex's significant half too. What!? Aren't you just said you need motivation? It's a healthy competition, don't tell me you never compared. Bah...

CBC_curler
Revlon Ceramic Curling Iron 1"

CBC_velcro
Make sure your hair is completely dry! Kick start your new look by using velcro curler to add volume to your fringe.

CBC_curllotion
Then divide your hair into two sections with hairband or hair clip. Applying styling gel or hair curl lotion to the hair section that you're about to curl.

CBC_curling
Carefully roll the iron up and make sure all of the ends of that section are completely enclosed in the barrel.

CBC_curling2
Hold it for about 10 seconds. Be very careful, don't burn yourself!

Now, open the curling iron and release the curls...

CBC_curls
Taa daa~~ You now have your very first spiral curl ;)

Don't worry if the curls appear to be too curly, you can always loosen and adjust to the desired style later.

Stay focus now and proceed with other sections until all areas are curled.

CBC_hairspray
Y.A.Y ❤❤ Spray with a light hold hair spray to keep your gorgeous curls in place.

CBC_adjusting
Lastly, lightly flip your head and use your fingers to shake out the curls. Thoroughly set your new look with the light hold hair spray!

Viola~~

CBC_me3
Congratulations! You have just added alluring bounce to your hair~~

CBC_me2
Pair with my fave fedora ❤❤

CBC_me1
and a self-made Coach bow.

Hope you enjoy your this tutorial as well as your beautiful curls~~

Best of Luck,
Bev

Hair Care

Sunday, December 27, 2009

You are not the first. Many have asked the same or similar question, over a million times.

Probably due to my hair styling in recent blog posts. But I have good hair all these while though (proud).

Haircare_me

Q1: What hair care products are you using?
That's the purpose of this posting. Will show you in a bit.

Q2: What's your styling secrets?
I merely hold any secrets. If I have one, perhaps it will be never-stop-trying.

Q3: Did you DIY your hair color?
YES! Cause I can't see any differences between a home DIY coloring kit and a salon one, except the price ;)

Q4: What hair color product then?
I used Revlon ColorSilk to test out the color effects cause it won't last longer than 4 months. This means I can unhesitatingly switch to a new color every 3-4 months! For a long lasting color, I prefer Loreal.

Q5: What's your hair color now?
Revlon ColorSilk #31 Dark Auburn.

Q6: Do you wash your hair everyday?
Of course, even during winter. I love clean hair.

I know, the Q&A above may not represent all the doubts and questions you have. You guys will probably pop up more questions after reading this whole thing. Haha...

I'm always ready.

But please... Allow me to divulge the heavily requested hair care products before furthering the Q&A section.

** Daily Use **
haircare_asience
Asience, my daily hair care shampoo and conditioner ❤❤

Hazel, a friend of my, first shared this secret with me. Now I'm addicted to it.

I bought all Asience products in S'pore back then. This brand wasn't available in M'sia until this April or May.

Its conditioner works like magic, seriously. You can feel the dramatic changes in just one wash. Try it and then ask your boy friend or husband or husband to run their fingers through your long silken hair...

mmm...mmm... I'm feeling my hair... Go get yours!

** Volumizing **
haircare_schwarzkopf
Love Schwarzkopf too ❤❤
