Confusion Hill

Saturday, May 31, 2008

This is not a fancy title that I created to get your attention. Seriously, the hill is full of unbelievable facts that certainly confusing. Therefore, they named it Confusion Hill.

# Totem Pole

Just wanna show you this humongous wood sculpture. It's the largest freestanding Redwood Chainsaw Carving in the World! It soars over 40 feet above the parking lot. It took one man over 3 months to create.

# Redwood Shoehouse

cards
The Redwood Shoehouse was used as a float in a parade in 1947! It has found a home here at Confusion Hill since 1949. It becomes a kids' favorite spot now.

# Gravity House

Now the real mystery begins. Gravity seems to be confused and you will be too. You will experience optical contradictions and odd physical sensations that are truly CONFUSING!

cards

Well, you can't tell the height variation in this photo. You have to compare the differences with your partner who try the test with you. I seem shorter although I suppose to look taller while taking the south slab. Dudes, this is an shocking mystery.

I have something more intense to show you!

It's not the Photoshop effect, it's the GRAVITY that makes our bodies defy the Laws of Nature! As soon as you step in Gravity House, you body will automatically lean to 45 degree. And I bet this is where Micheal Jackson gets all his inspiration from.

Watch THIS! If you still doubt about those pictures above.

Sorry, I was speaking in Mandarin because this video was intended to share with my family and friends. And yes, I speak Mandarin, generally most of the time. Here's the subtitle.

Hihi...
Can you see this uphill platform?
The golf ball will roll uphill itself.
Let's try if you don't believe.
Isn't it amazing? (giggling stupidly)
This is Gravity House .

Ok, I'm a lousy host, I'll do it better next time. But you can't blame me, I was completely stunt when I experienced all these odd variations, physically and mentally. Don't you feel the same way too?

Let's have a lunch break at Santa Rosa, Applebee's before we drove into San Francisco.

cards
Club House Grill, US$ 8.59

cards
California Shrimp Salad, US$ 9.99

I wasn't care much about foods because we only left 30 minutes drive to reach San Francisco. The excitement to breath in San Frans is truly overcome my food indulgences.

cards
It was sunny before entering San Frans.

But when we reached the Golden Gate Bridge...

cards
Damn foggy... Anyway...

Yeah!!! Finally, we are here in San Frans after a long drive. I know you can't wait to see the Golden Gate Bridge, I will blog about it later. Let's meet our best mate!

cards
(From left to right)
Beverly, Jason and Marsha. Do note that the Porsche is not his car. Don't be surprise, sport cars are everywhere in San Frans.

I've found the antidote to cure my homesick, my first Chinese cuisine in San Frans Chinatown! Slurrrp...

Drive through a tree

Not bad right? My hubby and I spend a night in Best Western Hotel before entering San Francisco. Doubtlessly we slept on the same bed although there were two provided. A comfortable sleep cost a reasonable price of US$ 97. Oopps, including the complimentary breakfast too.

cards

cards

Although the breakfast looked great in the pictures, trust me, those weren't impressive at all. I took it because it was free. Frankly, I don't really like American Breakfast. Pancakes, sausages, bacons, muffins, biscuits, bagel, and cereal. Damn... Can I have Dim Sum or maybe Curry Noodles? Anyway, the lousy breakfast won't bring my spirit down.

cards
Checked out and continued our journey.

cards
Spotted this adorable store named The Legend of Bigfoot along the road. Bigfoot!!?? So what? Johor has Bigfoot too. Let's get out of the car and look around. Everything is made of wood but that's not the point. Those wooden products are quite costly.

cards
Including this US$ 800 tiny Bigfoot. Ermmm, was it a Bigfoot?

cards
Why you want to steal the wooden fish?

cards
Do we look alike?

cards
Do they look alike?

Who did the better imitation? WHO? Me or him? Speak up and tell the truth.

cards
Ok, I give up. They are like brothers.

Let's move forward to the jaw-dropping tree, and I bet it was the biggest I have never seen in my life.

cards
Here I present you, Chandelier Tree with 315 feet height and 21 feet diameter. Also, it can live to maximum 2400 years.

cards
Believe what you are seeing. A drive through tree.

cards
See closely, I'm in the picture too dude!

cards
Posing with one of the fallen tree trunk in the park.

cards
And posing again if you do not see me enough.

More and more interesting things that you can't miss out! However, we still have one more post to go before entering San Francisco!

Crescent Beach Overlook

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

The pictures below will answer your previous question about my bikini unequivocally. Once again, I want to remind you not to place high expectation on me. I won't take off my shirt. So don't you ever for a second get to thinking you're going to convince me to do so. Hehehe~~

cards
I went to Crescent Beach!

cards
Obviously, I'm a pure Malaysian Chinese. You see this? I wrote Chinese words.

cards
My bikini served as a costume than a swim suit.

cards
This hair clip is too CUTE! I bought it at Thai Fair Malaysia for RM 3. Nothing can beat this!

cards
Watch this natural lore of the rocky tide pool.

cards
Then listen to the waves symphony.

cards
I shall request a wedding march from them.

cards
And dance along with pulchritudinous flowers.

cards
Turn this antique-ish light house to the witness of our true love.

Errmmm...Wait! The tone of this post is getting weird. I shouldn't express my emotion so soon because I save the best for last. The ultimate Crescent overlook is yet to discover, by scrolling down this post I mean. We drove on narrow and scenic road for whales watching. Yup, all the way up to the peak.

cards
Overwhelmingly breathless with the scenery.

cards
Glance it again, it's convincingly beautiful.

cards
Accidentally frame myself in this painting.

cards
I retreat for a while if my frequent appearance annoy you.

cards
Picnicking and whales watching buoyed up the top of the hill. Therefore, we spent the whole afternoon viewing whales and other rich mix form of lives.

cards
We spent the whole afternoon viewing whales and other rich mix form of lives.

cards
As dusk fell, we drove to the hotel nearby.

cards
Gratefully, I still managed to capture the last picture of myself.

cards
Also, in the last-ditch attempt to capture the finest happiness of the day.

If you think you have seen the biggest tree in my last post, I'm here to offer you something even more extreme!

Sweet Escape

Monday, May 26, 2008

I reached home safely yesterday!

But I'm completely in holiday mood still. It's a first and ever well-planned road trip until I couldn't believe it ended so soon. We chose to drive on historic and scenic roads instead of the one hour boring and customary flight to San Francisco.

cards

# First Day (17/05/08)
A = Portland
B = Redwood and Crescent Beach

# Second Day (18/05/08)
C = Confusion Hill
D = San Francisco

I know what's on your mind now, but are you crazy? Of course we do not travel all the places in a day. Literately, we departed from Portland on 17th of May to Redwood and Crescent Beach. Then, spent a night in a hotel and continue our journey to Confusion Hill and San Francisco on 18th.

My essential snacks for the road trip (just show you partially).
cards

My essential outing gadgets which I carry everywhere.
cards

I don't think I have time to blog all my belongings and personally I don't feel easy to show everyone my intimate belongings. Anyway, I packed everything in very last minutes and only managed to have 2 hours sleep before I took off. Guess I was over exciting. I bet you can't sleep well too after witnessing my road trip to San Frans.

cards
Are you ready to join me?

cards
My hubby was sleep walking though.

cards
Present you Starbucks wake up coffee and breakfast if you're not ready yet.

cards
Although I miss Nasi Lemak and Wanton Mee, the Starbuks breakfast was quite refreshing.

Are you ready NOW?

Whatever, I'm so ready for it.

cards
I plucked some cute little flowers at one of the rest area to lighten up myself for the first 6 hours drive.

cards
I hope the beautiful flowers can distract you from my pale look and tire eyes. With only 2 hours sleep and no make-up, I couldn't request you to scroll further.

BUT...You will regret if you stop reading, I grant you.

cards
This is my first stop, Redwood National and State Parks, California.

Why did I stop by this place? For the Redwood of course. Redwood offers the world's tallest living tree, living link to the Age of Dinosaurs. Hold your jaw now! All the trees are ancient and lived more than 1000 years. They are not only OLD, but HUGE!

cards
I told you, hold your jaw!

cards
Seriously, I almost got jaw fracture. I just can't believed my eyes.

cards
Those tress are super TALL as well. Ultimately high above.

cards
Personally, I thought I was casting in the Lord of The Ring II for a second while I was surrounding by huge redwoods.

cards
By and large, it was such an irreplaceable treasure watching those huge and tall time travelers. You just couldn't imagine how bad was my jaw until you witness it with your own eyes.

P/S: Keep holding your jaw! More breathtaking updates tomorrow!
