Now Everyone Can Fly Cheap

Friday, January 9, 2009

Again, I blog on board. But this time due to the sleepless condition causes by the Ah Beng sitting right in front. It’s really bad to gossip about others, especially with this real close distance. It is really close; I can easily hit his head with my 3 inches heels. As a civilize person, I choose to spread his annoyance instead of hurting him physically.

This is an early flight. I got up at 3am to catch my Hong Kong flight with Air Asia at 6.20am (my first time flying with Air Asia). Everyone attempt to rest as much as they can while on board. I assume tolerance is a common sense.

Guess what, I am wrong. Not for the Ah Beng in front of me.

See, he shakes his seat again. And even pushes his seat backward till it hurts my knees.
Now he turns the reading lights. On and off for several times. Then, eagerly pull out his laptop and hits the keypad while talking to his mate loudly.

I remain silence and attempt to sleep again.

Again and again. He repeats the same routine. Pushing his seat, turning his light, hitting his laptop and talking to his friend. He just overwhelm I guess, he seems so excited for this AK 0070 Air Asia flight (or maybe this is his once in a life time flight or something).

I remain silence and attempt to sleep again.

However, my silence just can’t help to put me into sleep. Chean notices my eyes are all in red and ask me try to rest a little.

Well, you really can’t rest peacefully when someone keeps hitting your knees, can you? I try hardly to keep my eyes close and suddenly...

FLASH…
FLASH…
FLASH…

And roared laughter… Of cause these are all come out from the Ah Beng and his friend.

Chean politely and patiently touches Ah Beng’s friend’s shoulder and tells him not to use the flash. But, Ah Beng’s friend does not respond at all. At this moment, I saw Ah Beng stares at Chean, in a very unfriendly and rude way.

I have to say something this time although we have been flying for two and half hours already. Ah Beng, do not challenge my patience.

Me
Ah Beng

Excuse me, do you mind to be considerate and understanding? This is an early flight; everyone is resting.

We just used the flash once (He pretends to be innocent).

But you keep pushing the seat and turning the light on and off. It’s really disturbing.

Miss (fake smile), there is no such rules as we can’t push the seat or turn the light.

I know, that’s why I ask you to be considerate and understanding.

No, there’s no such rule (firm and unfriendly). You know, we can do whatever we want, there is no such rules written as we can’t do such things (not guilty at all).

Ok then, go ahead if you think you are doing the right thing.

Obviously, it is useless to argue with someone who has so low self-introspection. I hold my tongue and he goes on doing what he likes to do without considering my feelings. I don’t know how can he do that, truly impressed.

Seriously, this is the most ridiculous conversation that I ever get from a man. They are usually very gentlemen and understanding. I never have this issue before while flying across US and other countries over all these years.

This is an ridiculously shocking situation because it happens on my own motherland with a Malaysian some more.

As Malaysian, we represent our country, our culture, our moral value when interacting with others. Fly cheap, but not act cheap.

淑娟去跟他们理论一下

他们一定没话讲

因为淑娟是最强的。。。娃哈哈哈哈

good that you took action :) sometimes i think about it, only a tough girl can handle a ah beng verbally. For a guy to take action, things may turn out being physically easily.

Unknown said...

I have this kind of bad experience for more than 10 times flying with AirAsia.Though most of them were not directly met by me.
So sometimes I just laughed the actions in my heart and thought that they were doing the things what barbarians do.After that,I would feel fully understanding. :D
Just take it easy and hopefully you wouldn't mess up your mood from this ridiculous thing.

sigh... hoping that u won't meet another ah beng when flying home.
just enjoy your trip and be happy always.

luxen said...

Since you're sitting behind him, you could just as well make his trip hell by kicking his seat every few minutes. That would just drive someone nuts.

Alternatively, just ask the stewardess if you could change your seats.

杏奈 said...

Beverly, y not u tell the air stewardess o steward? cz they r been trained to handle these kind of situation... Bcz im study abt airline course now, so i noe many airasia cabin crew. They r nice n friendly...
Rather than Talk to the ah beng really impolite n no self-respect.

I like ur word
Fly cheap, but not act cheap~

Gosh, I despise this fella. Not even a pretty girl like you turned him gentlemanly -_-"
Yeah, I had an experience with an Asian man who's totally ungentlemanly when I was travelling. Sorry to say this, but I feel most Westerners (maybe not all) are more gentlemanly. Could it be the culture? *shrug*

Ah Beng is just annoying only.

I've read about a more unpleasant experience on plane because of religious intolerance. That was on board an aircraft by Malaysia Airlines.
