Belong to Miyaki

Keeping up with healthy (mentally and physically) puppyhood is a thrill challenge for me as a new pet keeper.

Maybe many of you are already experts. But there's no harm viewing through all the pictures and share some knowledge or things in common together ;)

First of all, the essential daily consumption dog foods. I bought 2 different brands to try out. The rescue center recommend Royal Canin but eventually, IAMS appears to be more suitable for Miyaki's diet.

Treats and snacks are utterly important to train puppies. Make them work for foods is the best way for them to learn ;) Do not beat them, please!!! They'll just afraid but never learn.

These 2 are Miyaki's favorites. Cut puppies' treats into smaller pieces, you just want them to learn, not obese.
1) Beef flavor
2) Chicken flavor

Puppies like to bite, basically on any tangible things. Buy chews for them to avoid accident on ripped shoes or carpet. There are many choices available in the market and one pack can last you forever.

I bought this on last Saturday. The book "Puppies for dummy" actually recommended it and it really works! Load peanut butter into the stuff toy; it's a good way to distract aggressive puppies.

Loads of toys... The Wubba toy beeps when Miyaki chews on it. Guess what, he finds it exciting and keeps figuring ways to make the toy beeps again and again!

These toys have sounds too~~ He just can't get enough.

And more toys!!! Puppies love to surrounded by toys, you can tell from the picture above. Don't spoil them with toys though, occasionally bring the toys and invite them to play.

Hehe... I simply obsess of puppies' clothes :p

Tools for grooming. 1) Fast bath spray, I use it when he came back from muddy walk, 2) Tearless shampoo, twice a week.

Roller and poop bags. It's an obligation to clean up your puppy's business in U.S.

Stain and odor removers, and napkins. I hate the "doggie smell". You don't need this if you keep your pet outside of the house.

1) Adjustable leash. I personally do not recommend this one, you don't need a fancy one like this. It's important to coach your puppy to walk with you (a close distance) than letting him running around like he is the boss.

2) Dog Collar. Get your pup a comfortable and adjustable one cause they grow faster than you think. I let Miyaki wear his collar most of the time (except sleeping) in order to make him feel comfortable and familiar with it.

It's truly time-consuming and huge responsibility to take care of a life, especially one that is so young, fragile and can't talk.

But I never regret to do so.

Love you, baby...

p/s: Felicia, hope you find this helpful. You'll have a wonderful time with your sweetie ;) Good luck~~

Hi, Audrey here..congrats on getting Miyaki! *grins* He is so adorable! Those are very cool things that you got for him, though I have two notes for you:

1) Personally, I feel the IAMS brand is not as good as Royal Canin for dogfood. In fact, there are other brands which have better ingredients compared to these two brands (eg: Innova, Addiction, Orijen) Perhaps after you've finished these two bags, you could consider looking into other brands which have meat as the first ingredient and no grains / fillers inside =)

2) Chewhides are not good as well in the long run. Granted, Miyaki being a puppy now can't consume the hides yet, but when he's older, he would actually eat the hides, and it COULD impact his tummy = blockage of his digestive system = surgery. Best bet is to get nylabones which are for chewing and can't be eaten. =)

P/S: What are the rollers for? Are they used to absorb the pee? Don't think I've seen those in Malaysia...and the Wubba is so cute! Wish I could find those here too!

Hi Beverly, i feed my cats IAMS and RC (cat food of coz) too, but i found out that IAMS are more salty (by smelling it, im not gonna chew on kibbles) and my cats shed more. They prefer IAMS too like Miyaki probably because of addicted to the taste.. When i switched to RC, they shed lesser, their coat is more softer and shinier and their poo poo are not that smelly! i fed them 3 months IAMS another 3 RC. Well, that's what i saw on my boys, mayb IAMS is suitable for Miyaki..it depends on the animals themselves too.. Just wanna share my experience with you.. Maybe you can check out some pet forums, you can see the pet owners's review on different pet foods.. By the way, my boys names' are kacang and keju. ;)

Hi there,

Thank you for all the suggestions on the dog foods~~ I'm just wondering are the IAMs pet food ingredients in U.S are the same in M'sia.

I'm currently mixing Royal Canin with IAMS for Miyaki. His has loose stools with RC but he got better as soon as I mixed both of them.

I talked to Vet doc, and he said IAMS is totally fine for Miyaki ;) Perhapd it depends... But I'll switch his dog foods as he grows...

Thanks for all the concerns! Good luck with you babies~~
