Go! Go! Diet!

diet
1) Grape fruit. Needless to say, grapefruit diet is not a myth. There are tons of researches and findings have proven this secret weight-loss weapon actually works better than what you can anticipate. Binge it, savor it and benefit from it.

2) Vitamin C. When you are sailing along the road of diet, getting an adequate amount of the vitamin C will save you a lot of money on your medical bills. I'm poor, I need Vitamin C.

3) 6" Subway Veggie Delite Sandwich. Super filling, beyond tasty and it's only as low as 230 calories. What else can you ask for?

diet2
4) Silk Chocolate Almond Milk & Banana Nut Cheerios. You can opt for almond milk instead of chocolate almond milk, they both taste equally delicious to me. And Cheerios? I'm eating them for breakfast, and supper sometimes. You can definitely find a healthier and less calories cereal, but man, this banana nut cheerios just way too addictive to me.

5) Milo + Hup Seng crackers. You know I've been eating this all these while, and hey, Malaysians, we got the best crackers in the world!

6) Homemade Chinese Herbal Soup. I'm a beauty warrior, you know that better than I know myself. I don't want to be skinny but look like shit. In that case, homemade Chinese herbal soup just fits right in.

Diet_me
Yes, I did loss weight. And yes, I gained it back within a week of bad eating habits, skipping meals, starving and then over eating.

The whole diet plan has became a true challenge now as I no longer have the luxury of time to prepare my meal, to eat on time and to watch my diet, how ironic. But I'm going to keep working on this.

Diet is a lifelong mission isn't it? Don't give up too early because failure is the mother of success (that's a Chinese proverb, it's ok if you don't understand what I'm saying, Google helps).

Have a great day gals~~

To the most fab BS readers on earth,

Thank you for the prompt responses! Oh, and thanks for your heartiest regards (hell ya, I make time to read your emails and comments no matter how busy I am). I know, there are many questions to be answered regarding my working life, studies and Miyaki's well-being. I just wish there were more than 24 hours in the day, but in short, work is awesome, studies is as fun as always, and Miyaki is doing absolutely great. Life couldn't be better. Seriously ;)

So... without more ado, here are the lovely pics I promised to share.

Purple Heartthrob

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

This time, out of sheer boredom, I've decided to flaunt that not-so-girly side of me instead. It seemed like the perfect thing to do on that day as I coincidentally picked the same purple top I wore last year on Miyaki's birthday (click H.E.R.E to view).

I had this notion, god knows why, that pairing purple with black would be absolutely cool, you know, like rockers. m(^_____^)m But deep down inside, the truth is that no matter how much efforts I put into creating that look, I'm still super girly. The maneuver has failed entirely.

But it isn't always a bad thing to adore and stick with your own style, is it? (^_−)−☆

My 1st Timberland Boots

Monday, January 24, 2011

Please don't hate me for falling in love with shoes. I just can't help myself but feel a physical pull, a pang of helplessness perhaps, whenever I see those beautiful shoes sitting on the racks (especially on the sales racks). From the moment I put them on my feet, I don't feel like going home without them as they scream my name, begging me to be their owner.

So once again, I allowed myself to surrender to this guilty indulgence.

Walk The Line

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

I'm back. Thank you so much for the sincere condolences and warm regards, I'll be fine. No worries. I am fine, actually :)

I thought retail therapy is always the best short-term remedy for melancholy and overmuch sorrow. That's why I was allowed to carry 6 huge paper bags home last week, spending like there's no tomorrow. But when I reached home, I left those bags remain unmoved in the living room. Then I decided to just do nothing on the next few days except burying my head in textbooks and countless case studies. And surprisingly that works. Now I can conclude that reading is more powerful than shopping; it's effective and it helps you save money at the same time. A win-win solution.

So, it was until yesterday, I finally feel like claiming my old life back. I ran down the stairs, unpacked those shopping bags like they were my belated Christmas presents. "Look what I've bought! I'm still the luckiest person on earth," I mumbled to myself.

Life goes on no matter how desperately you wish to turn back time. To move on after experiencing an epically elegiac episode in life, you simply need a little courage, a little guts, a little time, and a pair of bad-ass shoes. So that you can walk away from all the sadness elegantly and gracefully.

So this is it

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

So this is it. The inevitable circle of life. The unbearable heartbreak. The sudden goodbye. The cries and tears. The funeral and the heavyhearted cremation ceremony. All these have taken a fine man away from my family, and left us only with sweet memories.

No, I didn't get to say goodbye to him, to my uncle. We called him 五叔 (pronounced as "mm soak" in Cantonese), it means the 5th Uncle.

Have you ever watched any Hong Kong drama series about family melodrama with a 1970-80s background setting? If you have, it'll give you a clearer and better picture about where I'm coming from. Yup, exactly like those typical huge family shown in those HK drama series. We all lived under the same roof, and when I say we I mean 6 uncles plus their wives (including my mum & dad), 3 aunts, and my grandparents. Those days were before I was born. As far as I could recall, 2 aunts moved out later to venture their futures in other regions, their braveness and adventure spirits made more room for their brothers to have children; then, I was born into this big family.

As time evolved, more grandchildren were brought into the family and more rooms were built to accommodate the expanding family tree; the house was getting crowded than ever. Well, that equally means more conflicts, more politics, and more dramas too. But those dramas only applied to adults, we children, or at least to me, actually adored the special closeness, the strong bond, and of course the happening environment too. Imagine having different uncles treating you ice-cream every weekend, how awesome! And among all the uncles, my 5th Uncle was the most generous one (and very humorous too). He loves all his nephews and nieces wholeheartedly. You know, during CNY, he will bring us to the grocery store, which was 10 mins from our house, and spend 100 bucks solely on fireworks for us.

(Wrote a few more paragraphs about my childhood stories with my 5th uncle, but I decided to delete them instead. I'm trying not to get too emotional into this as I know my family members are probably reading this too. So, I think I better stop. Forgive me for the unstructured flow of this post.)

Even though my mum has helped me deliver my condolence and sympathy to my 5th Aunt, I still hope to make the least effort to thank my uncle for being so helpful, so caring and overly kind to my family all these while. We would never ever repay his kindness and will forever owe him his generosity and his thoughtfulness.

Goodbye, 五叔. May you rest in peace. And please say hi to grandma if you meet her in heaven, which I know you surely will.

Love,
Bev

A Wondrous Journey Has Just Begun!

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

** This post was composed the night before I found myself attacking by food poisoning and before my uncle's passing. I'll temporary retreat from BS as well as the entire virtual world to mourn the passing of my uncle, at least for a week. Sorry if any inconvenience caused. I'll still reply important emails and comments. Take care you all. Til then.

Hello BS readers,

Sorry for the lack of blogging, most of my time has been occupied by assignments and wedding preparations (we are at the stage of brainstorming now). As ridiculous as it sounds, I truly am enjoying my life now, you know me, I always relish challenge and change. The inevitable assignments, the excitement of my upcoming wedding, and very soon I'll kick start my career in the advertising & marketing industry.

Yes, I'm gonna start working soon!

I wish I could tell you more about the next wondrous journey in my life, but I really have to go now, another assignment due tomorrow.

BPR_5
#1 Bobbi Brown Eye Makeup Remover ★★★★★

As good as Lancôme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover! And it's US$ 4 dollars cheaper, nothing can beat this deal ^______^ (Read my review of Lancôme Eye Makeup Remover and other eye makeup removers here!)

BPR_2
#2 Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover ★★★☆☆

It does remove waterproof eye makeup effortlessly; however, it irritates & stings my eyes at the same time too. Wanted to rate it 2 stars but its reasonable price point deserves another star. Will only recommend this to those who do not apply eye makeup everyday yet need one for occasional use.

BPR_3
#3 Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil ★★★★★

Awesome products (that's why I grabbed two)! It goes on easy and lasts all day, easy to smudge or mix with other eyeshadow colors and the most wonderful part is that you can use it as creamy eyeshadow or eyeliner! How cool~~ Highly recommend this to all beginners ❤❤

BPR_4
#4 Kiehl's Lip Balm SPF 15 ★★★★★

Always adore Kiekl's lip balms! I think I have 3 jars with me now and I've been using it for approximately 3 years now. Due to my great influence, Chean & my sis are using this too. Kiekl's lip balms are too essential to me, definitely something that I can't live without. I bought this tube solely for snowboarding and other outdoor activities, it's easy to carry, help prevent chapped lips and its provides UVA and UVB protection too.

BPR_6
#5 Laura Mercier Mineral Pressed Powder SPF 15 ★☆☆☆☆

I dunno, it's just too cakey and too dry for me. I wanted to return this but I got it online from Bergdorf Goodman; the company doesn't allow me to return or exchange just because I wiped the product on my face once. Totally regret my purchase. Anyway, I'm gonna rate Bergdorf Goodman zero star for its lame customer service and will stuck with this pressed powder for awhile. S.I.G.H.

BPR_1
#6 NARS Sheer Matte Foundation (no review yet)

I just bought this yesterday at Sephora, will share my thoughts later on BS. Oh, I forgot to include another awesome product from La Mer @.@

Hmm... Next time lah! There's always tomorrow, right? Just make sure you stay tuned. Hehe...

Hope you find this post helpful. Have fun shopping~~

Love & hugs,
Bev
