Pre-wedding Depression

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Sorry for the lack of blogging. I'm not sluggish at all, but I do need a little extra push to get myself blogging more often. A.R.G.H! Blame the pre-wedding depression! There are so much to do...

Basically everyone that I talk to lately has been asking me about my wedding preparation, either online, in person, or on phone. But I wanted to keep my mouth sealed until everything is officially confirmed. So now, if I ever get the same question again, I'll point you to this blog post instead...

Here are the FAQ I got from you all:

1) How's your wedding preparation coming along? (I know, please don't roll your eyes, I truly get this a lot!)

Everything is alright, still have to figure out couple more things.

2) When/Where will you hold your wedding ceremony?

September 11, 2011 (It's an auspicious date chosen by our families) and my wedding will take place in my hometown, Seremban, Malaysia.

3) How many guests will you invite?

350 guests at this point, they are all VIPs to me.

4) Have you taken your *pre-wedding photos yet?

Not yet. But already scheduled one since January, 2011. So I'll fly to Taiwan this June together with my sis and we'll meet Chean there for our pre-wed photos. I'm super excited about this!

*Pre-wedding photo shot is the traditional for Asian couples and it is part of "must-do" things when planning for the wedding. Yet, there's some of the couples wouldn't do this or choose to do it later, most of the reason is the budget and time issues.

5) Oh! What about your wedding gowns then?

This is the toughest part for me! As you know, Asian brides wear more than one gown on their biggest day. I never plan to rent any gowns for my wedding, cause I want to keep mine as a family heirlooms. I wish someday my daughter or granddaughter will walk down the aisle wearing the same bridal gowns that meant so much to me. I know I'm planning way ahead, but who knows? I wish I could wear my mum's traditional wedding gown, the traditional one that she had, that's truly a beauty that you cannot find now.

I think what makes this so tough is that I want a Chinese traditional gown so bad, I'm a very traditional bride and take pride of my heritage & culture, but the traditional gown can only be tailored made in Hong Kong or Guang Zhou, China. It's costly due to the fact that it's 100% man made and it's made of silver & gold threads. Phew... I solved that puzzle eventually and now the seller is about to ship my dream gown to Malaysia. Wait a minute, it's not as easy as it sounds, I ordered mine from China 5 months in advance. Every transaction placed through online, every communication activity solely based on email, yup, including my measurement. It's very risky, and the gown is super expensive. I'm betting on this, hope it turn out well, or else it'd be end of the world. *queasy*

6) So how many gowns will you get?

T.H.R.E.E. I care about my Chinese traditional gown more than anything, but I'm also getting a white gown and a dinner dress.

7) I read about your Facebook status saying that you're having hard time finding your Cinderella shoes, any luck with that?

I've got them all in a day! How lucky! None of them are super duper expensive, but I'm sure they'll look real good in pictures.

8) Will you blog about your bridal gowns and shoes? I can't wait to see!

Will do, for sure, but would do that after my wedding. As I said always, you just have to stay tuned! Hahaha...

It seems like I've accomplished a lot but there are a lot more things to work on still, I haven't booked any makeup artist, hair stylist, on side photographer, and camera man yet. If you are interested or have any recommendations, feel free to drop my a message on Facebook or simply shoot me an email, we'll work form there. Appreciated your help in advance!

Guess that's about it for today. I promise I'll blog more often~~ Will definitely share some of my bridal fitting photos with you all soon!!!

Thanks for reading! Have a great one~~

Loves & kisses as always,
Bev

haha.. i went through all these. Planning a wedding is already a pressure as most of the decisions made by the bride herself. And ppl around know nothing but still keep asking the same thing again and again, every time we meet up, the same question will pop up. Sometimes, I feel like bang my head to the wall =P

Glad that you will follow the chinese traditions. when it was my time, i wanted a western wedding but my parents didnt want to. Ended up, I followed some and skipped some. Now thinking back, I am quite regret that I didnt wear the chinese gown (kua).

take it easy and enjoy the every moment... when the date is getting nearer, u will have tons of tasks to do =) but after all, it will be a great memory for you!
