A gift to soul

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

As soon as I finished my GMAT exam, I ran into Powell bookstore . A fiction novel, is what I needed to console my soul. I love to read, strictly for reading materials that raise my interest. After choosing and filtering for a couple minutes, I grabbed a book and walked out of the bookstore (of course, I paid).

The Dogs of Babel by Carolyn Parkhrust, is completely overwhelming and poignant. I spent 2 days to read through this 261 pages long novel (that's why I wasn't updated my blog).

Linguistics professor Paul Iverson's life turned upside down when the body of his young wife, Lexy, is found beneath their backyard apple tree. Did she fall or did she jump? Only Lorelei, family dog and sole witness to the tragedy, knows for sure. And, she'd not talking. Yet.

cards
A short and brief summary surrounded by mysteries and wonders of love.

I wiped away my tears when I reached the last 3 chapters. Strongly felt the grief of losing someone vital in life. Sometimes, understanding the truth is the cruelest. Everything is just beautifully crushing and inspiring in this book.

If you feel lost and miserable, like what I did few weeks ago. Buy yourself a nice book. It will heal your soul and color your spirit, I promised.

Take care, buddies.

I love to read also, last time I read Da Vinci Code, used two weeks of time to complete it... When I read it, I used a dictionary beside me, to check for new words which I dont know...

Now I'm starting to read Marketing=based stories book... hehe...

Ya, I agreed with u.. The book is much more better than the movie... But still is the movie which inspired me to read the novel in much details... hehe...

Oh ya, may I know the biggest bookstore in US and how much is the price there? Reasonable (in US resident point of view)?

there are too many bookstores in US. Ermm, Barnes & Noble is one. Yet another exclusive bookstore in Portland called Powell.

Price is cheaper than M'sia of course if you're talking about Eng books.
